Is HEETS Discontinued in the UAE? The Honest Answer
No. HEETS has not been discontinued in the UAE. Philip Morris still sells it here, and its official UAE site currently lists ten HEETS variants: seven in the HEETS SELECTION range and three in HEETS DIMENSIONS. You can buy them through the IQOS online shop, at the IQOS Boutique in The Dubai Mall, and at most groceries and petrol stations that sell tobacco.
So why does everyone think otherwise? Because something real is happening, just not the thing people are describing.
What is actually going on
Philip Morris has moved its entire development roadmap to the ILUMA generation, which runs on TEREA sticks and cannot use HEETS at all. Every device launched since 2021 has been induction-based. No new blade device has appeared, and no new HEETS flavour has either.
Three things then happened at once, and people joined them into a single conclusion. Retail attention followed the new line, so HEETS shelf space shrank in many markets. Flavour variety stopped expanding. And retailers in several countries began publishing notices that HEETS production had ended, which spread quickly through search results.
None of that is an official UAE withdrawal. But the direction it points in is real, and it explains why HEETS users keep hearing their sticks are going away.
The gap that actually matters: range
Forget discontinuation for a moment. The practical difference between the two systems today is how much choice each one gives you.
Official IQOS UAE lists ten HEETS variants. TEREA runs to 75 flavours across five market editions, and even a single edition beats the entire HEETS lineup.
Armenia is the only TEREA edition smaller than the HEETS lineup, and it is deliberately short: six proven best-sellers at the lowest price. Every other edition is larger, and Indonesia is more than double.
The difference is not only in numbers. TEREA carries whole categories HEETS never had: the Pearl capsule flavours that change taste mid-session when you crush a bead in the filter, Indonesia’s seven clove Editions built on the kretek tradition, and Japan’s seven-step Regular line graded from Smooth through to Rich.
If you use HEETS today, nothing breaks tomorrow
Your IQOS 3 Duo still works. Your remaining packs still work in it. HEETS is still on sale through official channels.
What you should plan for is the medium term: a device line with no new hardware, no new flavours, and shrinking retail presence. That is the reason most people switch before they have to. Waiting until stock thins out means switching in a hurry, usually at a worse price.
HEETS and TEREA are not interchangeable
This is where most switching attempts go wrong, and it is worth being precise about.
HEETS works only in blade devices. A ceramic blade pushes into the stick and heats the tobacco from the outside. TEREA works only in induction devices, because it carries a metal element sealed inside the stick that the device heats magnetically. We explain the system in how TEREA sticks work.
| What you own | What it takes |
|---|---|
| IQOS 3 Duo, ORIGINALS DUO, ORIGINALS ONE | HEETS only |
| lil SOLID | Fiit and HEETS only |
| Lambda T3, Lambda CC | HEETS only |
| IQOS ILUMA One, Standard, Prime | TEREA only |
| IQOS ILUMA i One, i, i Prime | TEREA only |
| Lambda i8, i9, i10 | TEREA only |
Put a HEETS stick in an ILUMA and nothing happens, because there is no metal element for the induction coil to heat. Put a TEREA stick in a 3 Duo and the blade pierces a stick that was never designed to be pierced. Philip Morris warns against the second one specifically, since it can damage the device. The full breakdown is in our guide to HEETS in ILUMA and TEREA in IQOS 3 Duo, and every model is listed in the device compatibility guide.
So switching means changing your device as well as your sticks. There is no way around that.
Matching your HEETS flavour to a TEREA flavour
Philip Morris kept the flavour names and the general blend direction consistent across both formats, which makes the switch simpler than it looks.
| Your HEETS | Closest TEREA | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Amber | Amber | Nearly identical roasted tobacco, slightly cleaner finish |
| Sienna | Sienna | Same full-bodied, woody direction |
| Teak | Teak | Same peppery, woody character |
| Bronze | Bronze | Same cocoa and dried-fruit warmth |
| Yellow | Yellow | Same light citrus-tobacco profile |
| Silver | Silver | Same mild tobacco with spicy-herb notes. Neither is menthol |
| Turquoise Menthol | Turquoise | Same menthol reference point |
| Dimensions Apricity, Yugen, Ammil | Dimensions Apricity, Yugen, Ammil | Series continues under TEREA in the UAE range |
One clarification that saves mistakes in both systems: despite the names, Silver and Yellow contain no menthol at all. Silver is a mild tobacco with a spicy-herb aroma and Yellow is a light tobacco with a citrus aroma note.
Beyond the direct matches, TEREA adds what HEETS never had. The Pearl capsule range, the clove Editions in our Indonesia range, and the graded Regular line in the Japan range. If you want the whole picture, the TEREA edition comparison covers all five.
Does TEREA taste the same?
Close, but not identical, and the difference is heating rather than tobacco.
Blade heating warms the stick from a hot surface pushed into the middle of the tobacco. Induction warms a steel element from inside, which spreads heat more evenly. In practice, TEREA holds its flavour more consistently through the second half of a session, where blade sticks tend to taste drier near the end. Most people who switch describe TEREA as cleaner rather than different.
The bigger change is what happens to your device. HEETS leaves tobacco residue inside the holder, which is why blade devices need regular cleaning with sticks and a brush. TEREA keeps the tobacco sealed, so the holder stays clean and there is no cleaning routine at all. If you are still on a blade device, our IQOS cleaning guide covers doing it properly.
What switching costs, and how to keep it low
You need two things: an induction device and TEREA sticks.
On the device side, the cheapest route in is the ILUMA One, the single-piece entry model in the IQOS ILUMA range. The ILUMA i series is the current generation, and our ILUMA vs ILUMA i comparison covers whether the upgrade is worth it. If budget is the constraint, compatible Lambda devices heat TEREA at a lower entry price, with roughly double the battery of official hardware.
On the stick side, cost depends heavily on which edition you buy. The Kazakhstan and Armenia editions typically land cheaper than UAE stock, for reasons we set out in why imported TEREA costs less. Pairing a Lambda i8 with a Kazakhstan or Armenia carton is the cheapest complete setup we sell.
About the cheap HEETS appearing online
As attention shifts to ILUMA, listings offering unusually cheap HEETS become more common, and a share of them are old stock, mislabelled packs, or counterfeits. The same applies to TEREA. If a price sits far below everything else on the market, treat that as the warning sign it usually is. Our guide to spotting fake TEREA covers what to check on a pack.

Frequently asked questions
Is HEETS discontinued in the UAE?
No. Philip Morris still lists ten HEETS variants on its official UAE site, seven in HEETS SELECTION and three in HEETS DIMENSIONS, available through the IQOS online shop, the Dubai Mall boutique, and most groceries and petrol stations selling tobacco. What has stopped is development: no new blade devices and no new HEETS flavours.
Will my IQOS 3 Duo stop working?
No. The device keeps working as long as the hardware lasts. What you may lose over time is warranty support and easy access to HEETS stock as retail attention shifts to ILUMA.
Can I use my leftover HEETS after switching to ILUMA?
Not in the ILUMA. If you still have your old blade device, keep it for the remaining packs and run them down. Otherwise the leftover HEETS are unusable, which is a good reason not to stockpile.
How many TEREA flavours are there compared with HEETS?
Official IQOS UAE lists ten HEETS variants. We stock 75 TEREA flavours across five editions, ranging from six in the Armenia range to 21 in Indonesia. TEREA also has categories HEETS never had, including Pearl capsules and clove Editions.
Is TEREA cheaper or more expensive than HEETS?
It depends far more on the edition than the format. Imported editions like Kazakhstan and Armenia generally cost less per pack than official UAE stock of either type. Compare current prices before assuming the switch costs more.
Do I have to switch now?
No. Nothing forces you today. The argument for switching early is practical rather than urgent: you choose your device and your flavour on your own timing instead of scrambling when your usual pack stops appearing on shelves.
