IQOS Originals DUO Silver Device
IQOS Originals DUO Slate Device
IQOS Originals DUO Turquoise Device
IQOS ORIGINALS DUO is the current name for the device most people still call the IQOS 3 DUO. Same form, same two-piece system, renamed by Philip Morris when the ILUMA generation arrived and the older line needed distinguishing from it.
It’s a blade device, which means it works with HEETS and not with TEREA. That distinction decides whether this page is relevant to you at all, so it’s worth settling first.
We stock it in all four colours: Scarlet, Silver, Slate and Turquoise. Delivery within 1 hour in Abu Dhabi, same-day across the UAE.
Who this device is for
Anyone who uses HEETS and wants official Philip Morris hardware rather than a third-party alternative.
If you use TEREA, this device cannot heat it. TEREA carries a metal element designed for induction, and a ceramic blade pushed into one damages the stick and risks the blade. You need an IQOS ILUMA, ILUMA i or a compatible Lambda induction device instead.
The reverse holds too: HEETS have no metal element, so putting one in an ILUMA achieves nothing. HEETS in ILUMA and TEREA in IQOS 3 Duo covers both directions, and the device compatibility guide lists every model.
How the blade actually heats
This is where ORIGINALS DUO differs most from the ILUMA generation, and it’s worth understanding rather than treating as an older way of doing the same thing.
The device uses HEATCONTROL technology built around a flat, wide ceramic blade carrying platinum and gold tracks. The blade slides into the HEETS stick so its full surface contacts the tobacco, heating from the inside out. Philip Morris designed it that way for a reason: broad contact gives an even, cigarette-like draw that a narrow heating element wouldn’t.
What it also means is that the blade lives inside the tobacco for every session. Residue accumulates, cleaning is part of ownership, and the blade is the component most likely to fail if a stick is twisted during removal.

Reading the lights
The indicator system on ORIGINALS DUO carries more information than most owners realise, and knowing it saves a lot of guessing.
On the holder, press and release the button to check charge. Two lights means two uses available, one light means one use, and no lights means the holder is empty. You can check the same thing through the pocket charger by inserting the holder the right way up and pressing its button.
White lights signal normal operations: charging, resetting, ready to use, fully charged, or the pocket charger being outside its operating temperature range.
Red lights signal an error. That covers a required reset, a holder malfunction, a broken blade, or the device sitting outside its operational temperature range. In Abu Dhabi, the temperature warning is the one you’ll see most often, and it usually means the device has been left somewhere hot.
Cleaning is not optional
Because the blade sits in the tobacco during every session, residue builds up whether you like it or not. A DUO that isn’t cleaned loses flavour quality within weeks, and it’s the single most common complaint about blade devices generally.
We stock cleaning accessories including cleaning sticks, liquid cleaner and the Elio electronic cleaning tool, and our guide to cleaning an IQOS device covers the technique.
One handling note worth repeating: never twist a HEETS stick while removing it. Pull it straight out. A twisted stick is how ceramic blades break, and a broken blade means a replacement device rather than a repair.
Customising it
ORIGINALS DUO is the most customisable device Philip Morris has made. Beyond the four device colours, there are caps, doors and sleeves available in a wide range of finishes, which gives hundreds of possible combinations.
That flexibility is part of why the device stayed popular after the ILUMA launch. Owners who’d already built a setup around it had a reason to stay.
The rest of the IQOS ORIGINALS range
IQOS ORIGINALS DUO is the two-piece system: a holder plus a pocket charger that refills it between sticks, giving two consecutive uses and around 20 per full charge.
IQOS ORIGINALS ONE is the all-in-one version, a single unit rather than two pieces.
lil SOLID is the other blade line we carry, and it works with its own sticks.
All of these sit in our IQOS ORIGINALS range. If you’re considering third-party blade hardware instead, the Lambda T3 and Lambda CC use titanium steel alloy blades rather than ceramic, which is a genuine durability advantage, though neither carries a Philip Morris warranty.
If you’re thinking about moving to TEREA
Plenty of HEETS users have, and this device can’t come with you.
What changes on an induction device is that cleaning disappears entirely, since nothing inside ever touches tobacco. You also get access to 75 TEREA flavours across five editions, including the Pearl capsule range that has no HEETS equivalent.
Our guide on what the HEETS phase-down means for UAE users covers the situation honestly, and how TEREA sticks work explains why the two systems can’t share hardware.
The four colours
Silver is the classic finish, the closest to how the original IQOS 3 DUO looked. Slate is the dark neutral and the one that hides marks best. Scarlet is the bold red. Turquoise is the most distinctive of the four.
Care in the UAE
Heat is harder on a lithium battery than heavy use, and the pocket charger will report a temperature error if it’s been left somewhere too hot. Keep both parts out of parked cars and direct sun through summer.
Clean it on a schedule rather than when flavour starts dropping off, and pull sticks straight rather than twisting them. Those two habits determine whether the device lasts years or months.
Delivery
Every colour is stocked in Abu Dhabi with delivery inside 1 hour across the city, covering Khalifa City, Al Reem Island, Yas Island, Mussafah and Mohammed Bin Zayed City. Frequently asked questions
Is IQOS ORIGINALS DUO the same as IQOS 3 DUO?
Yes. ORIGINALS DUO is the current name for the same device, with new colour options and a wider accessory range. Philip Morris renamed the line when ILUMA arrived.
Can it use TEREA sticks?
No. TEREA is built for induction heating and carries a metal element inside. Forcing one onto a ceramic blade damages the stick and risks the blade. You need an ILUMA, ILUMA i or Lambda induction device for TEREA.
How many sticks before charging?
Two back to back from the holder, then a few minutes in the pocket charger. A fully charged pocket charger recharges the holder up to 20 times.
What do red lights mean?
An error of some kind: a reset needed, a holder malfunction, a broken blade, or the device being outside its operating temperature range. White lights indicate normal operations.
Does it need cleaning?
Yes, regularly. The blade sits inside the tobacco every session, so residue is unavoidable. Neglecting it costs you flavour quality within weeks.
Why do blades break?
Almost always from twisting a stick during removal. Pull sticks straight out. A broken blade shows as a red light and means replacing the device.
DUO or ORIGINALS ONE?
DUO is the two-piece system with a pocket charger, giving two consecutive uses and around 20 per charge. ORIGINALS ONE is the all-in-one, simpler to carry but without a charger to refill between sticks.
