Purple is the berry-and-menthol side of TEREA, and it’s the most confusingly named family in the whole catalogue. Depending on which market a pack was printed for, the same basic idea appears as Purple, Purple Wave, Purple Menthol or Black Purple, and the differences between those names are real rather than cosmetic.

This page collects every Purple we stock across all five editions, explains which name means what, and shows the price differences between them.

What the Purple family tastes like

The shared idea across every version: dark berry sweetness with cooling menthol over a tobacco base. Blackberry and blueberry are the notes most people identify, and they read as ripe fruit rather than candy, which is what keeps the family from tasting artificial.

What varies is the balance. Some versions lead with the berry and use menthol as a finish. Others lead with the cold and let the fruit sit underneath. The Black variants intensify both at once.

The aroma is noticeably fruity and carries further in a room than a plain tobacco stick. If discretion matters, this family is not the quiet option; Amber and Silver are.

Across a session the fruit is usually brightest in the opening draws, the menthol takes over through the middle, and the finish is cool with a light sweetness that doesn’t leave a syrupy aftertaste. Fourteen puffs, 0.5mg nicotine, the same as every other TEREA stick.

Decoding the names

Four names, one family. Here’s what each actually signals.

Purple is the base name, used in the Kazakhstan range: berry with menthol, sweet rather than sharp, medium cooling.

Purple Wave is the same idea in the UAE, Armenia and Indonesia ranges. Wave in TEREA naming indicates a fruit-and-menthol blend at an accessible intensity, and Purple Wave sits close to Purple in character. Treat the two names as siblings rather than as different products.

Purple Menthol is the Japanese version, and Japan names its flavors descriptively rather than by colour alone. It’s berry with cooling at a similar level, tuned to the Japanese palate, which generally means less sweet and cleaner.

Black Purple is the intensified version, and the Black prefix means the same thing everywhere in TEREA: more of everything. Deeper berry, harder cooling. Japan’s Black Purple Menthol is the strongest take on the idea; Indonesia’s Black Purple is softer than the Japanese one but stronger than a standard Purple.

If you’ve been buying one of these and want to switch markets, match the name pattern rather than assuming a straight swap.

Every Purple we stock

Purple Kazakhstan is the reference version: berry and menthol in balance, medium cooling, and it comes from the sixteen-flavor Kazakhstan range at budget pricing. The one to start with if you have no history with this family.

Purple Wave from the UAE is the official local release in Arabic and English packaging, priced at RRP. Part of the UAE edition, and the right choice for gifting or if packaging language matters.

Purple Wave Armenia is the cheapest Purple we sell, and one of only six flavors in the Armenian range. Its inclusion in such a short lineup says something: this is a flavor that sells reliably enough to earn a slot where only proven sellers get one.

Purple Wave Indonesia sits in the twenty-one-flavor Indonesian range at budget pricing, alongside its intensified sibling Black Purple Indonesia.

Purple Menthol Japan is the Japanese tuning, cleaner and less sweet, and one of the most popular flavors in that range. Its intensified version, Black Purple Menthol Japan, is the strongest berry-menthol we carry: deeper blackberry, harder cold, and a session that genuinely changes character from start to finish. Both come from the Japan range at premium pricing.

The price differences across these have nothing to do with the sticks. They follow tobacco excise in each source market, as explained in why imported TEREA costs less, and the TEREA edition comparison covers how the five markets differ overall.

Which Purple should you buy?

Cheapest: Purple Wave Armenia. Most balanced starting point: Purple Kazakhstan. Official local product: Purple Wave UAE. Cleanest and least sweet: Purple Menthol Japan. Strongest: Black Purple Menthol Japan.

If you’re coming from a menthol cigarette and want fruit added, start with the Kazakhstan or Armenian version rather than a Black variant. The intensified ones are better understood as an upgrade once you know you like the family, not as an entry point.

Purple against the rest of the range

Within the fruit-and-menthol group, Purple is the berry option. Green covers the sharper citrus-and-mint direction, and the Wave flavors in other colours handle tropical and citrus fruit.

If you want the cooling without any fruit, Turquoise is the reference menthol and Black Menthol is the coldest pure menthol we sell. If you want fruit that arrives mid-session rather than from the first puff, the Pearl capsule range does exactly that, and Kazakhstan’s Twilight Pearl is the berry one.

Coming from the other direction: if Purple is too sweet for you, Menthol and Turquoise are the clean alternatives. Every flavor we stock is listed on the TEREA flavors page, and the complete catalogue is in the full TEREA sticks range.

Specs and devices

Every Purple stick in every edition: 0.5mg nicotine, up to 14 puffs, roughly a 6-minute session, 20 sticks per pack and 200 per carton.

All of them need induction heating. IQOS ILUMA One, Standard and Prime, the ILUMA i series, and Lambda i8, i9 and i10 all work. The IQOS 3 Duo, Originals models, lil Solid, Lambda T3 and Lambda CC do not, since they use blades. How TEREA sticks work explains why, and the device compatibility guide lists every model.

One storage note specific to this family: fruit notes degrade before menthol does. A Purple pack left in a hot car loses its berry first and ends up tasting like a weaker plain menthol, so keep stock cool and sealed.

Delivery

Every Purple edition we carry is stocked in Abu Dhabi with delivery inside 1 hour across the city, and same-day service to Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Cash on delivery available, free delivery above 200 AED.

Frequently asked questions

Is Purple the same as Purple Wave?

Effectively yes. Purple is the name used in the Kazakhstan range, Purple Wave in the UAE, Armenia and Indonesia ranges. Both are berry-and-menthol blends at a similar intensity, with small tuning differences between markets.

What does Black Purple mean?

The intensified version. Black as a prefix always signals more in TEREA naming, so Black Purple has deeper berry and stronger cooling than a standard Purple.

Which berry is it?

Blackberry and blueberry are the notes most people identify, depending on the version. They come through as ripe fruit rather than sweet-shop flavouring.

Is Purple very minty?

Moderately. The menthol is there to balance the fruit rather than dominate it, so any Purple is gentler on cooling than Turquoise and much gentler than Black Menthol.

Which is the strongest Purple?

Black Purple Menthol from the Japan range, on both fruit and cooling. Indonesia’s Black Purple is the middle option, and standard Purple or Purple Wave the mildest.

Can I mix editions in one device?

Yes. There’s no regional lock, and nothing in the device responds to which market a stick was printed for.
