Lambda i8 Review: The Best Budget TEREA Device?
The Lambda i8 is a third-party induction device that heats TEREA sticks, built by Lambda as an alternative to the IQOS ILUMA. It uses the same Smartcore induction heating principle, runs 35 to 40 sessions on a 3200 mAh battery, and adds something no ILUMA offers: adjustable temperature from 200 to 300°C and adjustable session length from 3 to 6 minutes. If you want more control and more battery for less money, it’s a strong buy. If you want official PMI support and warranty coverage, buy an ILUMA instead. That’s the whole trade-off.

What the i8 does that an ILUMA doesn’t
Three things, and they’re the reason people choose it.
Adjustable temperature. An ILUMA runs one fixed heating profile decided by Philip Morris. The i8 lets you set anywhere from 200 to 300°C. Lower settings give a lighter, cooler draw. Higher settings pull more flavor and more throat hit out of the same stick. If you find a flavor too weak or too harsh, you can change the device instead of changing the stick.
Adjustable session length. Standard TEREA sessions end at roughly 6 minutes or 14 puffs. On the i8 you can shorten that to 3 minutes for a quick session or run the full 6.
Battery that lasts a working week. 35 to 40 sessions per charge is well beyond what a pocket-sized all-in-one normally manages. For most users that’s several days between charges rather than daily topping up.
What you give up
Being honest about this matters more than the feature list.
No official warranty or support. Lambda is not Philip Morris. If it fails, you’re dealing with the seller, not an IQOS service centre. Ask your seller what cover they provide before buying.
No official firmware or app. No device registration, no app features, no official replacement programme.
Build is good, not premium. Aluminium alloy with PPSU and PEEK internals is solid material choice, and at 83 g it feels substantial rather than hollow. It does not have the finish of an ILUMA Prime.
It’s a third-party device. Some people simply prefer buying the manufacturer’s own hardware. That’s a fair position and no spec sheet changes it.
Does it work with TEREA? And with HEETS?
TEREA: yes. The i8 uses induction heating, which is exactly what a TEREA stick needs. Its Smartcore metal element sits inside the stick, the device generates the magnetic field, and the tobacco heats from within. The mechanics are the same as an ILUMA, and we explain them in how TEREA sticks work.
HEETS: no. HEETS sticks have no metal element inside, so there is nothing for an induction device to heat. This applies to the i8, to every Lambda induction model, and to every ILUMA. If you have HEETS, you need a blade device from the IQOS Originals range. More on that in can you use HEETS in ILUMA.
The i8 also runs other Smartcore-compatible sticks, so you aren’t locked to one brand.
Cleaning and maintenance
Very little, and this is one of the real benefits of induction over blade heating. The tobacco stays sealed inside the stick, so residue doesn’t build up inside the chamber the way it did in an IQOS 3 Duo. Wipe the stick opening occasionally and that’s it.
If you also own an older blade device that does need proper cleaning, our IQOS cleaning guide covers that, and we stock cleaning tools and accessories.
Colours available
The i8 comes in six: black, gold, green, grey, red and white. Browse them all on the Lambda i8 page.
i8 vs the rest of the Lambda range
The i8 is the value pick in the lineup. The i9 and i10 are newer models, and the T3 and CC sit in different form factors. If you want to compare specs across the range before deciding, start at the Lambda device collection. For the wider question of third-party versus official hardware, see Lambda vs IQOS ILUMA.
Who should buy the Lambda i8
Buy it if you want longer battery life than a pocket device normally gives, you like the idea of tuning temperature to your taste, or you want to run TEREA without paying ILUMA prices.
Buy an IQOS ILUMA or an ILUMA i instead if official warranty and service matter to you, or if you want the more premium finish of a Prime model.
Either way you’ll need sticks. We deliver the full TEREA range across Abu Dhabi and the UAE with cash on delivery.
FAQ
Is the Lambda i8 an original IQOS device?
No. Lambda is an independent manufacturer, not Philip Morris. It’s a compatible device, not an IQOS product, and it doesn’t carry IQOS warranty or service.
What temperature should I set for TEREA?
Start in the middle of the range and adjust from there. Lower settings give a softer, cooler session. Higher settings bring out more flavour intensity. Menthol flavours tend to feel better on the lower end, full tobacco flavours on the higher end.
How many sticks can I use before recharging?
Between 35 and 40 on a full charge, and a full charge takes about 2.5 hours.
Will TEREA taste different in a Lambda compared to an ILUMA?
It can, because you control the temperature. At a matched setting the experience is very close, since both use the same induction principle on the same stick.
Can I use SENTIA sticks in it?
Yes. The i8 works with TEREA and other Smartcore sticks.
