Digital Violet is the loudest finish in the ILUMA i range, and it’s the only one that reads as a statement rather than a preference. A saturated violet with a matte surface, it’s the device people comment on and the one you can identify across a table.

That second point matters more than it sounds. In a household or an office where several people use IQOS, the black and blue holders are genuinely hard to tell apart at arm’s length, and picking up someone else’s is a routine irritation. A violet one ends it.

The bold end of the palette

Digital Violet is the far end of a range that otherwise stays restrained.

Midnight Black is designed to disappear. Leaf Green is colour that doesn’t announce itself. Breeze Blue is the signature middle ground and the usual best seller. Vivid Terracotta is warm and unusual but still muted.

This is the one that isn’t. If you want a device that looks chosen rather than issued, it’s the obvious pick, and if you don’t, one of the other four will suit you better.

Some markets have also released an Electric Purple limited edition, a brighter take on the same idea that sits outside the standard five-colour palette. It isn’t part of this range.

As with any bright finish, fingerprints and scuffs are more visible than they’d be on black, which remains the most forgiving of the five over a year of pocket use. All of them are on the ILUMA i collection page.

Why this is the model to buy in the i range

If you’re choosing between the three ILUMA i devices, the practical difference is bigger than the naming suggests.

ILUMA i One is an all-in-one. It has autostart and FlexPuff, but no touch screen, no Pause Mode, no FlexBattery and no consecutive uses, because there’s no pocket charger to refill a holder between sticks.

This device has all four features and up to three back-to-back sessions. ILUMA i Prime has exactly the same feature set in premium materials with a replaceable wrap, at a higher price and in a different four-colour palette that doesn’t include Digital Violet.

So this is the cheapest way to get the complete ILUMA i experience, and the only way to get it in this colour.

The four features

Touch screen. Preheating progress, session time remaining, and a count of uses left before the holder needs the charger.

Pause Mode. Scroll down the screen to pause, resume within 8 minutes. Performance Mode only, first 3 minutes or 8 puffs only, and it costs one of your three consecutive sessions.

FlexPuff. Up to four extra puffs, taking a stick from 14 to as many as 18. Activation depends on individual usage patterns, and it never runs on a paused session.

FlexBattery. Performance Mode for three consecutive sessions, or Eco Mode for one at a time with up to a year of extra holder battery life. Set in the IQOS app; Eco disables Pause.

Compatible sticks

The SMARTCORE STICKS family: TEREA in every edition, LEVIA and DELIA. Compatibility comes from the metal element inside the stick, not the market that printed the pack, so imported editions and Pearl capsule flavours behave identically to local stock.

HEETS won’t work, because there’s nothing inside them for induction to heat. Philip Morris also warns against using SMARTCORE STICKS in previous IQOS generations, which can damage those devices. HEETS in ILUMA and TEREA in IQOS 3 Duo covers it, the device compatibility guide has the model list, and HEETS users should see the IQOS Originals range.

What to smoke in it

Amber if you came from full-flavour cigarettes, Yellow from lights, Turquoise from menthols.

Seventy-five flavours across five editions, and edition affects price more than flavour: Kazakhstan for cost and Pearl capsules, Armenia cheapest, Japan and Indonesia for exclusives, UAE for the official local release. Why imported TEREA costs less explains the spread.

Care

Rated 0 to 40°C, which an Abu Dhabi car passes easily in summer. Heat ages a lithium battery faster than use, so keep both parts out of direct sun.

There’s no cleaning routine at all, since induction keeps tobacco out of the holder. Warranty is commonly 12 months on holder and charger, with terms varying by market.

Delivery

Same-day delivery reaches Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Cash on delivery available, free delivery above 200 AED.

Frequently asked questions

How bright is Digital Violet?

It’s a saturated violet rather than a pastel, with a matte finish that stops it looking glossy. It’s the most eye-catching colour in the standard palette.

Is this the same as the Electric Purple limited edition?

No. Electric Purple is a separate, brighter limited release that has appeared in some markets outside the standard five-colour range. Digital Violet is the permanent palette colour.

Is Digital Violet available on ILUMA i Prime?

No. The Prime palette is Breeze Blue, Aspen Green, Garnet Red and Midnight Black. Digital Violet is specific to ILUMA i and ILUMA i One.

Does a bright finish scuff more?

It shows marks sooner than Midnight Black does over long-term pocket use, though the difference is smaller than on a bright metallic.

Does it perform differently from the other colours?

No. All five ILUMA i finishes share the same battery, heating system and features.
