The lil SOLID 2.0 in Cosmic Blue is the full-specification version of KT&G’s all-in-one heated tobacco device, and the blue is the finish it’s most often photographed in.

Before the colour, the thing most listings skip: this isn’t an IQOS device. lil SOLID is made by KT&G, the South Korean tobacco company, and distributed by Philip Morris International in many markets. It sits beside IQOS rather than inside it, which is why it heats differently and takes different sticks.

Korean engineering, Philip Morris distribution

KT&G is Korea Tobacco & Ginseng, the largest cigarette manufacturer in South Korea, and lil SOLID is its own heated tobacco platform. The device is designed and produced in South Korea, and the partnership with PMI is what brought it to markets outside Korea.

That origin matters practically rather than as trivia. KT&G built lil SOLID after watching the first generation of heated tobacco devices in the field, and the design decisions reflect it: a steel heating pin instead of a fragile ceramic blade, and a battery considerably larger than anything IQOS was offering.

The steel pin

IQOS blade devices like ORIGINALS DUO heat with a flat ceramic blade that slides into the stick. Ceramic is brittle, and a cracked blade is the most common way those devices die.

lil SOLID uses a steel heating pin. It heats the tobacco from the inside to around 350°C, taking about 25 seconds to preheat, and it doesn’t crack the way ceramic does.

For anyone who has already lost an IQOS device to a broken blade, that difference is the reason to look at this one.

Twenty-five sticks per charge

The battery is the 2.0’s headline, and the number is genuinely ahead of the field.

Twenty-five uses per full charge, against roughly 20 from IQOS ORIGINALS DUO, around 20 from ORIGINALS ONE, and 20 from the original lil SOLID. That’s more than a full pack of sticks before you need a socket.

Three consecutive uses come as standard. After the third the device runs an automatic cooling cycle lasting about three and a half minutes, then allows another three in a row.

How to use it, including the part that catches IQOS owners out

Charge it fully before the first session, roughly two hours over USB-C. If it seems dead out of the box, that’s expected: the device ships in sleep mode and wakes when you hold the button for two seconds or connect the charger.

To run a session, slide open the cover on top, insert a Fiit or HEETS stick with the tobacco end down and push it until it reaches the bottom of the slot. Hold the button for two seconds until it vibrates. The status LED blinks ice blue while it preheats, and after about 25 seconds the light goes solid with a vibration to tell you it’s ready.

Removing the stick is where lil SOLID differs from IQOS entirely. Rotate it more than three times in one direction, then pull it out. On an IQOS blade device that would crack the blade; here it’s the correct technique, and it stops tobacco residue staying behind in the chamber.

Sticks

Fiit, which is KT&G’s own line and what the manufacturer recommends for performance and device longevity, and HEETS, which many UAE users already have.

TEREA and DELIA will not work. Both are SMARTCORE sticks with a metal element built for induction rather than for a pin, and forcing one in risks damage. For TEREA you need an IQOS ILUMA, ILUMA i or a Lambda induction device. The full picture is in HEETS in ILUMA and TEREA in IQOS 3 Duo and the device compatibility guide.

The rest of the range

The lil SOLID EZ is the lighter variant, charging faster at around 90 minutes and available in more finishes including Mint and Rose Gold. The 2.0 also comes in Stone Grey. Everything sits on our lil SOLID collection page.

Care in the UAE

Keep it out of parked cars and off dashboards through summer. Heat ages a 2950 mAh lithium battery faster than heavy use does.

Clean the chamber with the included brush every few sessions. Pin heating collects less residue than a ceramic blade, but it isn’t self-cleaning, and the rotate-before-removal habit does most of the work for you. We stock cleaning accessories and cover technique in our guide to cleaning an IQOS device.

Frequently asked questions

Is lil SOLID made by IQOS?

No. It’s made by KT&G in South Korea and distributed by Philip Morris in many markets. Different manufacturer, different heating method, different sticks.

Why is the battery bigger than an IQOS device?

KT&G specified 2950 mAh, which gives 25 uses per charge against roughly 20 on IQOS ORIGINALS devices. It’s the device’s main selling point.

How do I remove a used stick?

Rotate it more than three times in one direction, then pull it out. This is the opposite of IQOS blade devices and prevents residue collecting in the chamber.

Why is there a wait after three sticks?

The device runs an automatic cooling cycle of around three and a half minutes after three consecutive uses. It’s by design, not a fault.

Can it use TEREA?

No. TEREA is built for induction heating and won’t work with a pin. It can damage the device.
