IQOS lil Solid Stone Grey Device

Stone Grey is the understated finish in the lil SOLID 2.0 range, and the one that suits the device’s character. At 106 by 31 by 22 millimetres and 99 grams, this is a compact all-in-one built around function rather than presentation, and a muted grey body says exactly that.

It’s also the more practical of the two 2.0 finishes on wear. Grey hides fingerprints and pocket marks better than the Cosmic Blue does over a year of daily carry.

Three sticks, then a cooling cycle

Worth understanding before you own one, because it surprises people who expect a device to simply keep going.

lil SOLID 2.0 allows three consecutive uses. After the third, it runs an automatic cooling cycle of about three and a half minutes, and then permits another three in a row.

That’s a design decision rather than a limitation. Pin heating concentrates heat in a narrow steel element, and the cooling period is what keeps the pin and the surrounding chamber within a sensible working range across back-to-back sessions.

For most users it never comes up. Three sticks in a row is more than a typical sitting, and the 2950 mAh battery holds enough for 25 sessions before it needs a socket at all.

Why 25 uses matters

Twenty-five sticks per charge is more than any comparable device offers, and the comparison is worth making explicitly.

IQOS ORIGINALS DUO gives around 20. ORIGINALS ONE gives around 20. The original lil SOLID gave 20. The 2.0’s 2950 mAh battery pushes past a full pack of sticks.

For a heavy user that difference is the whole argument, and it’s why this device found an audience despite not carrying the IQOS name.

Not an IQOS device

lil SOLID is made by KT&G, the South Korean tobacco company, and distributed by Philip Morris International in many markets. It’s a separate platform that sits alongside IQOS rather than within it.

The practical consequences are that it heats with a steel pin rather than a ceramic blade, and that it takes Fiit and HEETS rather than TEREA.

Sticks, and one hard limit

Fiit is KT&G’s own stick line, built for this device and recommended by the manufacturer. HEETS also work, and many UAE users prefer them for being more densely packed.

TEREA and DELIA will not work. They’re SMARTCORE sticks carrying a metal element designed for induction heating, and putting one into a pin device risks damaging it. For TEREA you need an IQOS ILUMA, ILUMA i or a Lambda induction model, as explained in HEETS in ILUMA and TEREA in IQOS 3 Duo and listed in the device compatibility guide.

Using it

Charge fully before first use, roughly two hours over USB-C. A new device arrives in sleep mode, so hold the button for two seconds or plug in the charger to wake it.

Slide the top cover open, insert a stick tobacco-end down until it reaches the bottom of the slot, and hold the button for two seconds until it vibrates. The LED blinks ice blue during the 25-second preheat, then goes solid with a vibration when the stick is ready.

To remove a used stick, rotate it more than three times in one direction and then pull it out. That’s the opposite of what you’d do on an IQOS blade device, where twisting cracks the ceramic. Here the rotation prevents tobacco residue staying in the chamber, and the steel pin handles it without issue.

Care in the UAE

Heat is harder on a lithium battery than use is, so keep the device out of parked cars and off dashboards through summer.
