Bright Wave is Indonesia’s cold fruit stick: a deep menthol hit carrying green fruit and a light Indonesian herbal note underneath. Despite coming from the edition famous for clove, this one has no clove in it at all. It belongs to the Wave pair alongside Purple Wave, and where Purple goes dark and berry, Bright Wave goes green and sharp.

It’s the stick people reach for in heat, and in Abu Dhabi that covers most of the year.

Bright Wave and Bright Menthol are not the same stick

Worth clearing up first, because the names cause more confusion than any other pair in the TEREA range and plenty of stores list them as if they’re interchangeable.

Bright Wave is Indonesian. The fruit reads green, closer to grape and crisp summer berries, the menthol runs deep, and there’s a faint herbal or spiced thread that comes from the Indonesian blending style. Bright Menthol is Japanese, built on orchard fruit like apple and pear, sweeter, softer, and cooler in a gentler way.

Same first word, different sticks, different editions, different prices. If someone recommended “Bright” to you, ask which one they meant. Both ranges are laid out side by side on our TEREA Indonesia flavors page and TEREA Japan flavors page.

About the flavor

The hierarchy is menthol first, green fruit second, herbal spice third, tobacco last. The cooling lands at the back of the tongue rather than spreading across the whole mouth, which is what gives it that jolting quality reviewers keep describing.

The fruit is the part worth paying attention to. It isn’t candy sweetness. Think of the sharpness of green grapes or under-ripe summer berries, a fruit note with acidity in it, and that acidity is what keeps the stick refreshing rather than sugary. Behind it sits a mild herbal warmth that most people never consciously identify but which stops the flavor from tasting like a generic fruit menthol.

Across a session, the menthol is strongest in the opening draws, cold and immediate. The middle is where the fruit properly arrives and the stick is at its most balanced. And the last third turns frostier and crisper as the fruit recedes, finishing with a clean, cold aftertaste that lingers pleasantly rather than turning bitter. Fourteen puffs at 0.5mg nicotine, and the aroma stays fairly discreet for a menthol, which our guide to whether TEREA sticks smell puts in context against the clove and berry flavors.

What reviewers actually disagree about

This is a flavor with genuinely split opinions, and it’s more useful to know that before you buy than after.

The disagreement is about the menthol level. Some users find the menthol dominant enough that the fruit barely registers. Others say the opposite, that it needs more menthol to make the fruit work. Both groups are describing the same stick, which tells you something useful: Bright Wave sits in the middle of the menthol scale, so whether it reads as strong depends entirely on what you normally smoke.

Coming from a light menthol, it will feel cold. Coming from Black Menthol or another maximum-cooling stick, it will feel moderate. The fruit is similarly middling in intensity: present and identifiable, not loud. If you want a fruit menthol where the fruit clearly leads, Purple Wave is the better pick, and if you want serious cold, Black Green is the intensified route.

Buy a pack before a carton on this one. It’s a flavor people either keep in permanent rotation or move on from after a few sticks, and there’s no reliable way to predict which you’ll be.

Where it fits in the Indonesian range

The Indonesian edition is the biggest we stock, and Bright Wave sits in its non-clove half. Its closest neighbours are Purple Wave, the berry counterpart, and Green, a simpler cooling stick without the fruit layer. The seven clove Editions are a different world entirely, and Auburn is where to start if you’re curious about those.

Across other editions, the nearest relatives are Green Zing in the Kazakhstan range and Summer Wave, both sharing the sharp-fruit-plus-cold idea. You can browse everything by flavor family on our TEREA flavors hub, or see the whole catalogue of 75 sticks on the TEREA sticks page. If you’re weighing Indonesia against the other editions on price, why imported TEREA costs less explains where the gap comes from.

In the pack

20 sticks per pack, 200 per carton across 10 packs, with the carton cheaper per stick. Original Indonesian-market stock, factory-sealed, printed in Indonesian with Indonesian health warnings and the flavor name in Latin script.

Using it

Slide the stick printed-end up into the holder without twisting. Current ILUMA devices start heating on their own; older models need the button held until the first vibration, and a second vibration means ready. Around 20 seconds of preheating, then up to 14 puffs across roughly 6 minutes. The spent stick comes out whole for general waste because nothing has burned, which is the Smartcore system explained here.

Menthol sticks reward an unhurried draw more than tobacco ones do. Pull too hard on Bright Wave and the cold overwhelms the green fruit entirely, which is precisely the complaint some reviewers have about it.

Devices

Heats in any induction device: IQOS ILUMA One, Standard and Prime, every ILUMA i model, and Lambda i8, i9 and i10. Blade devices such as the IQOS 3 Duo can’t heat TEREA at all, and the device compatibility guide lists every model on both sides.

Delivery

In stock in Abu Dhabi with delivery inside 1 hour across the city, and same-day service to Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Cash on delivery available, free delivery on orders above 200 AED.

Frequently asked questions

Does Bright Wave contain clove?

No. It’s part of the Indonesian range but not one of the seven clove Editions. The herbal note some people pick up comes from the blending style, not from cloves.

Is the menthol strong?

Medium. Reviewers split on this precisely because it sits in the middle: strong next to a light menthol, moderate next to Black Menthol or Black Green.

What fruit is it exactly?

Green fruit rather than a single named one. Most people read it as grape or crisp summer berry, sharp rather than sweet.

Is Bright Wave the same as Bright Menthol?

No. Bright Wave is Indonesian with green fruit and deep menthol; Bright Menthol is Japanese with apple and pear at a gentler cooling level. The similar names cause a lot of mistaken orders.

Bright Wave or Purple Wave?

Bright Wave for sharp green fruit and colder menthol, Purple Wave for sweeter berry and a softer profile. They’re the two halves of the same idea.
