Black – ELIO Electronic Cleaning Tool for IQOS

The Elio is a motorised version of the job you’d otherwise do by hand. Instead of inserting a brush and twisting it two or three times, you insert the head and the tool rotates it for you.

Black is the standard finish and the one most people pick, partly because it matches most devices and partly because a cleaning tool spends its life covered in tobacco residue, which shows less on a dark body.

What it changes

The manual IQOS cleaning tool works perfectly well. What the Elio changes is consistency and effort.

Consistent rotation. By hand, most people twist too fast, twist unevenly, or push down while twisting, which is the one thing the instructions tell you not to do. A motorised head turns at the same speed every time without pressure.

Less effort per clean. If you’re cleaning after every pack of 20 sticks, that’s a routine you’ll repeat hundreds of times a year. Making each one shorter matters more than it sounds.

Easier if hand strength is an issue. Twisting a small brush inside a narrow chamber isn’t comfortable for everyone, and this removes that entirely.

What it doesn’t change is the rest of the routine. You still cool the device for at least 30 seconds, tap out loose tobacco first, and finish with a cleaning stick for the fine residue and the cap.

Using it

Let the device cool at least 30 seconds after your last stick, and avoid pressing the device button during cleaning so it doesn’t start heating.

Remove the cap, turn the holder upside down and tap gently to release loose tobacco. Insert the Elio head straight into the heating chamber without twisting, until it reaches the bottom, then run it briefly without pushing down. Withdraw it straight rather than at an angle, and tap both the holder and the tool.

Finish with a cleaning stick, cleaning the bottom of the chamber with a semicircular motion and working another down the inside of the cap.

The same protections apply as with any tool: don’t clean the blade itself, only the bottom of the chamber, and never use water on the device or the tool.

Looking after the Elio

Tap it out after each use and wipe the head with a cloth. A cleaning stick lifts residue caught in the bristles.

Don’t wash it, and don’t run it while it’s damp. Check the head periodically and replace it when it’s bent, worn or won’t come clean, since a damaged head can scratch the chamber.

Which devices it suits

Ceramic blade devices: IQOS ORIGINALS DUO, ORIGINALS ONE, IQOS 3 DUO, 3 MULTI and 2.4 Plus, plus blade-based Lambda T3 and CC models.

Not needed for ILUMA or ILUMA i devices, which require no cleaning at all.

For the brushing step, yes. You’ll still want cleaning sticks for the fine residue and the cap, which no brush reaches properly.

No, Elio is a third-party accessory. The official routine uses the manual IQOS cleaning tool and cleaning sticks.

Can it damage my device?

Not if used correctly: insert straight, no downward pressure, and never touch the blade. Those rules apply to any tool.

Do I need one for an ILUMA?

No. ILUMA and ILUMA i devices need no cleaning at all.
