Gold Khaki is the most understated finish in the ILUMA Prime range. A soft, muted gold with a khaki cast, it carries the warmth of a metallic without the shine, and it’s the one people choose when they want the premium build without a device that announces itself.

Performance is identical across every Prime. Same induction heating, same two sticks back to back, same charger capacity. The finish is the decision here.

What’s in the kit

Prime is a two-piece system, so the box carries more than an all-in-one device does.

Inside: the ILUMA Prime holder in Gold Khaki, the matching pocket charger with its leather-effect wrap already fitted, a USB-C charging cable, a power adapter, and the documentation with warranty details.

TEREA sticks are sold separately. The device does nothing without them, so most orders include a pack or two.

No cleaning kit is included, and that’s by design. Prime has no blade and never needs cleaning inside.

Where Gold Khaki sits in the range

Prime’s five finishes cover a wider spread than the colour names suggest.

Gold Khaki is the quiet metallic. Bronze Taupe is the warmer, more obviously metallic one, closer to a jewellery finish, and it has noticeably more presence in the hand. Obsidian Black is the neutral that goes with everything and hides marks best. Jade Green is the most distinctive of the four standard colours, and the Neon Limited Edition is built to stand out entirely, produced as a limited run rather than a permanent line.

If you like the idea of a metallic finish but not the attention that usually comes with one, Gold Khaki is the answer. It reads as expensive up close and unremarkable from across a room.

The practical trade-off is the one that applies to every pale finish: fingerprints and small scuffs show sooner on light colours than dark ones over a year of pocket use, and Obsidian Black is the most forgiving of the five if that concerns you more than the look. The colour isn’t permanent

Something most Prime buyers don’t realise: the wrap on the pocket charger comes off.

It attaches with linear magnets that sit in recesses on the charger body, and it pulls away from the top down. So Gold Khaki today doesn’t mean Gold Khaki forever, and this is the only ILUMA device where changing the finish is possible at all.

Two things worth knowing: wraps aren’t covered by the device warranty, and a damp cloth is all they need for cleaning.

Using it day to day

Charge the pocket charger fully before the first session, roughly 135 minutes over USB-C. Hold the charger button for four seconds to turn the device on.

Take the holder out, insert a TEREA stick to the line on the filter, and wait for the vibration with pulsing lights. Heating begins by itself, or press the button for a second to start it manually. Once the lights hold steady, draw normally for up to 14 puffs or about six minutes, with a vibration warning you at the last 30 seconds. Remove the used stick and slide the holder back into the charger.

Autostop ends a session if the stick is moved or removed part-way, so a distraction doesn’t cost you half of one. A short press on the charger button shows the battery level, and a yellow blink means it needs charging.

If the device blinks white twice, it’s outside its operating range of 0 to 40°C. In Abu Dhabi that usually means it’s been left in a hot car, and it needs to cool before it will run. Our first-time ILUMA setup guide covers everything else.

No cleaning required

Older IQOS devices heated the stick with a ceramic blade that collected residue and needed regular cleaning with sticks and cotton buds.

Prime has no blade. Smartcore induction heats a metal element sealed inside each TEREA stick through a magnetic field, so nothing inside the holder touches tobacco at any point. Sticks come out whole and nothing accumulates. How TEREA sticks work explains the mechanism.

If you’re still choosing a device

All ILUMA devices heat identically, so the choice is shape, features and price.

ILUMA One is the all-in-one entry model, lightest and cheapest, with no pocket charger or auto-start. ILUMA Standard is the two-piece system in plastic and matches Prime on performance for less money. Prime adds aluminium, the replaceable wrap and the sliding door. Sticks to order with it

We stock all 75 TEREA flavors across five editions. For a first device, Amber suits full-flavor cigarette smokers, Yellow suits light smokers, and Turquoise suits menthol smokers.

Edition affects price more than taste. Most customers choose the Kazakhstan range, on cost and for its five Pearl capsule flavors. Armenia is cheaper with a shorter lineup, and the official UAE edition comes in Arabic and English packaging at RRP. Care in the UAE

The operating range is 0 to 40°C, which a parked car here exceeds easily in summer. Heat also shortens lithium battery life in general, so keep the device out of direct sun.

Use the supplied cable and adapter, avoid using it while it’s charging, and wipe the wrap with a damp cloth when it needs it. Nothing else requires maintenance.

No. Every Prime shares the same heating, battery, consecutive uses and charge capacity. Only the finish changes.

Is it a shiny gold?

Can I change the wrap later?
