LAMBDA i9 Black Device

Black is the finish most Lambda i9 buyers choose, and on a device with an OLED screen it’s also the one that looks best in use. The display sits almost invisibly against a dark body when it’s off, and lights up cleanly when it isn’t.

It’s also the most practical of the six. Fingerprints and the small scuffs that come from daily pocket carry show far less on black than on the metallics, which matters on a device you’ll own for years.

What you get over an IQOS device

Two things, and they’re why the i9 sells as well as it does.

Battery. 3200 mAh giving up to 40 sessions per charge, roughly double what an IQOS ILUMA i holder and charger manage between refills.

Adjustable heat. IQOS runs one fixed profile for every stick. This lets you set 200 to 300°C. Lower settings give a lighter, cleaner draw with delicate aromas visible, which suits Silver or a light citrus flavour like Yellow. Higher settings give denser vapour and more body, where Amber and Sienna come alive.

What you give up is the Philip Morris warranty. Lambda is a third-party manufacturer, so cover comes from the retailer rather than PMI, and there’s no app support. Our Lambda vs IQOS ILUMA comparison sets both sides out.

Where the i9 sits in the Lambda range

Lambda i8 has the same battery, temperature range and compatibility at a lower price, covered in our Lambda i8 review. The i9 adds the OLED display and the self-cleaning cycle. Lambda i10 is the newest, in a leather-effect body.

Using it

Charge it fully over USB-C before the first session. Insert a TEREA stick into the chamber up to the filter line without twisting, start heating, and wait for the ready signal before drawing.

Set temperature and session time through the device controls. Start in the middle of the range and adjust: raise the temperature if a flavour feels thin, lower it if it feels harsh or you want the aroma clearer.

What it can and cannot heat

It heats TEREA and other Smartcore sticks with an internal metal element, including SENTIA. Every TEREA edition works, including the Pearl capsule range, since compatibility comes from the induction mechanism rather than the flavour or market.

It cannot heat HEETS, which have no metal element for induction to work on. HEETS users need the blade-based Lambda T3 and CC or the IQOS Originals range. Both directions are covered in HEETS in ILUMA and TEREA in IQOS 3 Duo, with every model in the device compatibility guide.

Sticks to order with it

We stock all 75 TEREA flavours across five editions, and adjustable temperature makes exploring them more rewarding than on fixed-profile hardware.

For a first device, Amber suits full-flavour cigarette smokers, Yellow suits light smokers, and Turquoise suits menthol smokers.

Edition affects price more than taste. Most customers buy the Kazakhstan range, on cost and for its five Pearl capsule flavours. Armenia is cheaper with a shorter lineup, Japan and Indonesia carry exclusives, and the official UAE edition comes in Arabic and English packaging. Everything sits in the full TEREA sticks range. Care in the UAE

Heat shortens lithium battery life faster than use does, and a 3200 mAh battery left in a parked car through an Abu Dhabi summer degrades sooner than one kept indoors. Keep it out of direct sun.

Use the supplied USB-C cable and avoid using the device while it’s charging. Induction devices don’t collect tobacco residue the way blade devices do, so there’s no cleaning routine.

Does black perform differently from the other finishes?

No. Every Lambda i9 shares the same battery, heating, temperature range and features. Only the finish changes.

Does it show fingerprints?

Less than the metallic finishes do. Black hides marks and scuffs better than silver, gold or grey over long-term daily use.

Does it work with all TEREA sticks?

Yes. Compatibility comes from the induction mechanism rather than the flavor or market, so every TEREA edition works, including the Pearl capsule flavors.

How many sessions per charge?

Up to 40 from the 3200 mAh battery, roughly double what an IQOS ILUMA i delivers between charges.

Is it an official IQOS product?

No. Lambda is a third-party manufacturer, so there’s no Philip Morris warranty. Any cover comes from the retailer.

Can it heat HEETS?

No. HEETS have no metal element inside, so induction can’t heat them. The blade-based Lambda T3 and CC handle HEETS instead.

Lambda i8 or i9?
