Midnight Black is the finish most ILUMA i One buyers settle on, and the reasoning is as practical as it is aesthetic. It suits any setting, it never looks out of place, and it hides the marks that a year of pocket use leaves on lighter devices.

What’s in the kit

ILUMA i One is a single unit, so the box is short on parts.

Inside: the ILUMA i One device in Midnight Black, a USB-C charging cable, a cleaning tool for the outer cap, and the documentation with warranty details.

A power adapter isn’t included, which surprises some buyers. Any USB-C phone charger works.

TEREA sticks are sold separately, and the device does nothing without them, so most orders include a pack or two.

Why black is the practical choice

The five finishes don’t age the same way, even though they’re built the same.

Fingerprints, dust and the small scuffs that come from sharing a pocket with keys all show sooner on light and warm finishes. Terracotta Brown and Breeze Blue show them earliest, Leaf Green sits in between, and Midnight Black hides them best of the five.

There’s a second argument that has nothing to do with wear. Black is the finish nobody regrets, which makes it the safe answer if the device is a gift or you don’t know the recipient’s taste. Digital Violet is the opposite proposition, the one designed to be noticed.

What this device does that ILUMA One doesn’t

If you’re upgrading from the older all-in-one, three things change.

Heating starts by itself the moment a stick goes in to the filter line, where ILUMA One needs the button held down. Autostop ends the session if you pull the stick out part-way.

FlexPuff reads your puff pattern during the first three minutes or eight puffs and may extend the session by up to four extra puffs, taking it from 14 to as many as 18. It depends on how you actually draw, so it won’t trigger for everyone.

And the battery is larger at 2700 mAh against 1728, though both give around 20 sticks per charge.

What it doesn’t have, despite the ILUMA i name: no touch screen and no Pause Mode. Those belong to the two-piece ILUMA i Standard and ILUMA i Prime, which also handle up to three consecutive uses because their pocket chargers refill the holder between sticks.

Using it

Charge it fully before the first session, about 90 minutes over USB-C. Hold the button for four seconds to turn the device on.

Slide the cap open, insert a TEREA stick up to the filter line without twisting. Heating begins on its own, or press the button for a second to start it manually. A second vibration means it’s ready. Draw normally for up to 14 puffs or six minutes, plus whatever FlexPuff adds. The status light shows remaining time and the device vibrates once near the end. Slide the used stick out and close the cap.

No cleaning inside

Older IQOS devices heated the stick with a ceramic blade that collected tobacco residue and needed regular cleaning.

There’s no blade here. Smartcore induction heats a metal element sealed inside each TEREA stick through a magnetic field, so nothing inside the device touches tobacco. Sticks come out whole and nothing accumulates. Only the outer cap ever needs attention, which is what the small tool in the box handles. How TEREA sticks work explains the system.

Sticks to order with it

We stock all 75 TEREA flavors across five editions. For a first device, Amber suits full-flavor cigarette smokers, Yellow suits light smokers, and Turquoise suits menthol smokers.

Edition affects price more than taste. Most customers buy the Kazakhstan range, on cost and for its five Pearl capsule flavors. Armenia is cheaper with a shorter lineup, and the official UAE edition comes in Arabic and English packaging at RRP. Care in the UAE

Heat shortens lithium battery life faster than use does, and a parked car through an Abu Dhabi summer is the worst place to leave a device. Keep it out of direct sun and off dashboards.

Use the supplied USB-C cable, avoid using it while it’s charging, and there’s nothing else to maintain.

Frequently asked questions

Does Midnight Black perform differently from the other colours?

No. Every ILUMA i One shares the same battery, heating system and features. Only the finish changes.

Does black really hide marks better?

Yes, noticeably. Fingerprints and scuffs show far less on a dark matte finish than on lighter or warmer ones, which is why it’s the most common choice for daily use.

Are TEREA sticks included?

No. The kit contains the device, a USB-C cable, a cap cleaning tool and documentation. Sticks are ordered separately.

Is a power adapter in the box?

No, only the cable. Any standard USB-C phone adapter works.

Does it have a touch screen?

No. The touch screen and Pause Mode belong to ILUMA i Standard and ILUMA i Prime. This model has autostart, autostop and FlexPuff.

Can I use two sticks back to back?

Not on an all-in-one device. Consecutive uses need a pocket charger to refill the holder in between, which is what the two-piece ILUMA i models do.

How many sticks per charge?

Up to 20, a full pack, from a 2700 mAh battery. Charging takes about 90 minutes.

Can it use HEETS?

No. HEETS contain no metal heating element, so induction has nothing to heat. TEREA only.
