IQOS ILUMA i One Brown

Terracotta Brown is the warm finish in the ILUMA i One range, and the only one with any earthiness to it. Where the rest of the lineup runs cool or neutral, this is a soft clay-toned brown in matte, closer to a ceramic object than to a piece of electronics.

Every ILUMA i One is identical inside, so the finish is the decision here. What follows covers the box, the features and where terracotta fits among the five.

The warm one in a cool range

Look at the five finishes together and the split is obvious.

Midnight Black is neutral, Breeze Blue is cool and the best seller, Leaf Green is muted and cool-leaning, and Digital Violet is the bold one. Terracotta Brown is the only warm tone in the set.

That makes it the choice if you want colour without brightness, or if cool tones simply aren’t your preference. It’s understated in the same way the black is, but it has actual warmth to it rather than reading as an absence of colour.

The trade-off applies to any light finish: fingerprints and scuffs show sooner on pale and warm colours than on dark ones across a year of pocket use, and Midnight Black is the most forgiving of the five. All of them are on the ILUMA i One collection page.

What’s in the kit

The device is one piece, so the box is short.

Inside: the ILUMA i One in Terracotta Brown, a USB-C charging cable, a cleaning tool for the outer cap, and the documentation with warranty details.

No power adapter is included. Any USB-C phone charger works.

TEREA sticks are sold separately, and the device does nothing without them.

The features that define this generation

Two things separate ILUMA i One from the older ILUMA One, and one is more useful than the other.

Autostart is the one you feel every session. Insert a stick to the filter line and heating begins by itself, with no button to hold. Autostop ends the session if you take the stick out part-way, so a distraction doesn’t waste half of one.

FlexPuff is the more interesting feature. During the first three minutes or eight puffs the device reads your puff pattern and may extend the session by up to four extra puffs, so a stick can run to 18 rather than 14. It activates based on individual usage, so it won’t apply to everyone, and it helps most if you draw slowly and often reach the end of a stick before you’re ready.

The battery is also larger at 2700 mAh against the older model’s 1728, though both give around 20 sticks per charge.

What’s missing, despite the ILUMA i name: no touch screen and no Pause Mode. Those sit on the two-piece ILUMA i Standard and ILUMA i Prime, which also handle up to three consecutive uses thanks to their pocket chargers.

Using it

Charge it fully before the first session, roughly 90 minutes over USB-C, and hold the button for four seconds to turn it on.

Slide the cap open, insert a TEREA stick to the filter line without twisting. Heating starts on its own, or press the button for a second. A second vibration means ready. Draw for up to 14 puffs or six minutes plus any FlexPuff extension, with the status light showing remaining time and one vibration near the end. Slide the used stick out and close the cap.

No internal cleaning

Older IQOS devices heated the stick with a ceramic blade. Residue built up on it and cleaning was a routine chore.

There’s no blade here. Smartcore induction heats a metal element sealed inside each TEREA stick using a magnetic field, so tobacco never touches the inside of the device. Sticks come out whole, nothing accumulates, and only the outer cap ever needs the small tool supplied. How TEREA sticks work explains the mechanism.

Sticks to order with it

We stock all 75 TEREA flavors across five editions. For a first device, Amber suits full-flavor cigarette smokers, Yellow suits light smokers, and Turquoise suits menthol smokers.

Edition affects the price more than the flavour. Most customers buy the Kazakhstan range, on cost and for its five Pearl capsule flavors. Armenia is cheaper with a shorter lineup, and the official UAE edition comes in Arabic and English packaging at RRP. Care in the UAE

Heat shortens lithium battery life faster than use does, so keep the device out of parked cars and off dashboards through the summer.

Use the supplied USB-C cable, avoid using it while charging, and there’s no other maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

Is Terracotta Brown a dark brown?

No, it’s a soft clay tone, warm and muted rather than deep. It’s the only warm colour in the ILUMA i One range.

Does it perform differently from the other finishes?

No. All five share the same battery, heating system and features. Only the colour changes.

Does the light finish mark easily?

Warm and pale finishes show fingerprints and scuffs sooner than dark ones over long-term pocket use. Midnight Black is the most forgiving of the five.

What is FlexPuff?

The device reads your puff pattern over the first three minutes or eight puffs and may add up to four extra puffs, extending a session from 14 to as many as 18. It depends on individual usage.

Does it have a touch screen or Pause Mode?

Neither. Both belong to the two-piece ILUMA i Standard and ILUMA i Prime. This model has autostart, autostop and FlexPuff.

Are sticks or a plug included?

No. The kit has the device, a USB-C cable, a cap cleaning tool and documentation.

Can it use HEETS?
