Moss Green is the quietest finish in the ILUMA Standard range. A soft, desaturated green with a matte surface, it’s the colour that draws the least attention on a desk or in a hand, and the one people pick when they’d rather the device didn’t look like a gadget at all.

Performance is the same across every ILUMA Standard colour. Same induction heating, same two sticks back to back, same charger capacity. What follows covers the finish, the kit and how the device behaves day to day.

What’s in the kit

ILUMA Standard is a two-piece system, so the box holds more than an all-in-one device would.

Inside: the ILUMA holder in Moss Green, the matching pocket charger, a USB-C charging cable, a power adapter, and the documentation and warranty card.

TEREA sticks are sold separately, and the device does nothing without them, so most orders include a pack or two.

There’s no cleaning kit, which is deliberate. ILUMA has no blade and never needs cleaning inside.

Choosing Moss Green over the others

Six colours, and they split into three groups by how much attention they attract.

Moss Green and the two Pebble finishes are the understated end. Moss Green is the only one of those three with actual colour to it: Pebble Beige and Pebble Grey are proper neutrals, warm and cool respectively. If you want something that isn’t grey but still stays quiet, this is the one.

Azure Blue sits in the middle and outsells everything else. Sunset Red is the bold option and the easiest to pick out if other people around you own IQOS devices. The Neon Limited Edition is the loudest of all, and it’s a limited production run rather than a permanent line.

One practical note that applies to every light finish: fingerprints and small scuffs show more on pale colours than dark ones over a year of pocket use. Pebble Grey is the most forgiving of the six on that count. All of them sit together on the ILUMA Standard collection page.

How the two parts work together

The holder runs the session and the pocket charger refills it in between, which is what lets this device get through a full day without a wall socket.

The holder handles two sticks back to back. After that it needs a few minutes in the charger, and by the time you want a third stick it’s ready. The charger itself holds enough for around 20 sticks, so one overnight charge covers a normal day for most people.

That’s the difference from ILUMA One, which is a single unit that needs a plug once it runs down. The trade is that there are two objects to keep track of rather than one, which our ILUMA One vs Standard vs Prime guide weighs up properly.

Using it

Charge the pocket charger fully before the first session, which takes about 135 minutes over USB-C. Hold the charger button for four seconds to switch the device on.

Take the holder out, insert a TEREA stick to the line on the filter, and wait for the vibration and pulsing lights. Heating starts on its own; there’s no button to hold. When the lights hold steady, draw normally for up to 14 puffs or roughly six minutes, with a vibration warning you at the last 30 seconds. Remove the used stick and slide the holder back into the charger.

Autostop ends the session if the stick is moved or removed part-way, so a distraction doesn’t cost you half a stick. A short press on the charger button shows the battery level, and a yellow blink means it needs charging.

Our first-time ILUMA setup guide covers everything else.

Nothing to clean

Older IQOS devices heated the stick with a ceramic blade that collected residue and needed regular cleaning.

There’s no blade in ILUMA. Smartcore induction heats a metal element sealed inside each TEREA stick using a magnetic field, so nothing inside the holder touches tobacco at any point. Sticks come out whole and no residue builds up. How TEREA sticks work explains the mechanism.

It’s also why this device takes TEREA and nothing else. HEETS have no metal element for the coil to heat, and TEREA won’t heat in an IQOS 3 Duo. Both are covered in HEETS in ILUMA and TEREA in IQOS 3 Duo, and every model is listed in the device compatibility guide.

If you’re still choosing a device

All ILUMA devices heat identically, so the decision comes down to shape, features and price.

ILUMA One is the all-in-one entry model, lightest and cheapest, without a pocket charger or auto-start. ILUMA Standard is the two-piece system in plastic. ILUMA Prime matches Standard on performance and adds aluminium construction with a replaceable leather-effect wrap. The newer ILUMA i series brings a touchscreen, Pause Mode, FlexPuff and three consecutive uses instead of two.

Our ILUMA vs ILUMA i comparison covers whether the newer generation earns its price, and Lambda vs IQOS ILUMA assesses the cheaper alternatives honestly.

Sticks to order with it

We stock all 75 TEREA flavors across five editions. For a first device, Amber suits full-flavor cigarette smokers, Yellow suits light smokers, and Turquoise suits menthol smokers.

Edition affects price more than taste. Most customers buy the Kazakhstan range, on cost and for its five Pearl capsule flavors. Armenia is cheaper with a shorter lineup, and the official UAE edition comes in Arabic and English packaging at RRP. The reason for the gap is in why imported TEREA costs less, and the whole catalogue is in our full TEREA sticks range.

Care in the UAE

Heat is what shortens a lithium battery, and a parked car in an Abu Dhabi summer is the worst place to leave either part of this device. Keep both out of direct sun.

Use the supplied cable and adapter, and avoid running the holder while the charger is plugged in. There’s nothing else to maintain.

Frequently asked questions

Does Moss Green perform differently from the other colours?

No. Every ILUMA Standard shares the same heating, battery, consecutive uses and charge capacity. Only the finish changes.

Is Moss Green a bright green?

No, it’s a soft desaturated green, closer to a muted olive than to anything vivid. It’s the most understated colour in the range apart from the two Pebble neutrals.

Are TEREA sticks included?

No. The kit contains the holder, pocket charger, cable, adapter and documentation. Sticks are ordered separately.

How many sticks can I use back to back?

Two from the holder, then a few minutes in the charger. The charger holds enough for around 20 in total.

Does it start heating by itself?

Yes. Insert the stick to the filter line and heating begins automatically, with no button to hold. ILUMA One is the one that needs a button press.

Does it need cleaning?

No. There’s no blade, so no residue collects inside and there’s no cleaning routine.

Can it use HEETS?

No. HEETS contain no metal heating element, so induction has nothing to heat. TEREA sticks only.

Moss Green or Pebble Grey?

Moss Green if you want a colour that still stays quiet. Pebble Grey if you want a true neutral, and it’s the finish that shows marks least over time.
