Pebble Beige is the warm neutral in the ILUMA Standard range. A soft sand tone with a matte surface, it’s the finish that looks least like a piece of technology and the one that sits comfortably next to leather, wood and warm-toned things generally.

Every ILUMA Standard colour performs identically, so the choice here is about the object rather than the experience. What follows covers the finish, what comes in the box, and how the device works day to day.

What’s in the kit

ILUMA Standard is a two-piece system, so there’s more in the box than an all-in-one device would carry.

You get the ILUMA holder in Pebble Beige, the matching pocket charger, a USB-C charging cable, a power adapter, and the documentation with warranty details.

TEREA sticks aren’t included and the device does nothing without them, so most orders add a pack or two.

No cleaning kit either, and that’s by design rather than an oversight. ILUMA has no blade, so there’s nothing inside to clean.

Beige or grey: the neutral question

The two Pebble finishes are the quiet end of the range, and they’re closer to each other than to anything else. Choosing between them is a warm-versus-cool decision.

Pebble Beige is warm. It reads as sand or stone, and it works with brown leather, wood and gold-toned accessories. Pebble Grey is cool, closer to concrete, and pairs better with black, steel and silver.

One practical difference is worth knowing before you decide. Pale warm finishes show marks and discolouration a little more obviously than cool grey does over a year of pocket use, so Pebble Grey is the more forgiving of the two. If your device lives in a bag rather than a pocket with keys, that gap shrinks to nothing.

The other four options run louder. Moss Green is the understated option with actual colour to it, Azure Blue is the mid-point and our best seller, Sunset Red is the bold one, and the Neon Limited Edition is a limited run rather than a permanent line. All six sit together on the ILUMA Standard collection page.

How the two parts work

The holder runs each session and the pocket charger refills it in between, which is what lets this device last a full day away from a plug.

Two sticks back to back come from the holder. After that it wants a few minutes in the charger, and it’s usually ready before you are. The charger carries enough for roughly 20 sticks, so charging it overnight covers a normal day.

That’s the practical difference from ILUMA One, a single unit that needs a wall socket once it runs down. The cost is having two objects to keep track of instead of one, which our ILUMA One vs Standard vs Prime guide weighs up in detail.

Using it

Charge the pocket charger fully before the first session, roughly 135 minutes over USB-C, and hold the charger button for four seconds to turn the device on.

Take the holder out, insert a TEREA stick to the line on the filter, and wait for the vibration and pulsing lights. Heating begins by itself with no button to hold. Once the lights hold steady, draw normally for up to 14 puffs or about six minutes, and a vibration warns you at the last 30 seconds. Remove the used stick and slide the holder back into the charger.

Autostop ends a session if the stick is moved or pulled out part-way, so an interruption doesn’t cost you half of one. A short press on the charger button shows its battery level, with a yellow blink meaning it needs charging.

Our first-time ILUMA setup guide covers the rest.

No cleaning at all

Older IQOS devices used a ceramic blade that pushed into the tobacco stick, collected residue and needed cleaning regularly.

ILUMA has no blade. Smartcore induction heats a metal element sealed inside each TEREA stick through a magnetic field, so nothing inside the holder ever touches tobacco. Used sticks come out whole and nothing builds up inside. How TEREA sticks work explains the system.

The same design means this device takes TEREA and nothing else. HEETS have no metal element for induction to heat, and TEREA won’t heat in an IQOS 3 Duo. Both directions are covered in HEETS in ILUMA and TEREA in IQOS 3 Duo, with every model listed in the device compatibility guide.

Still deciding which device?

All ILUMA models heat identically, so shape, features and price are what separate them.

ILUMA One is the all-in-one entry model, lightest and cheapest, with no pocket charger and no auto-start. ILUMA Standard is the two-piece system in plastic. ILUMA Prime matches Standard on performance and adds aluminium with a replaceable leather-effect wrap. The newer ILUMA i series adds a touchscreen, Pause Mode, FlexPuff and three consecutive uses.

Our ILUMA vs ILUMA i comparison covers whether the newer generation is worth it, and Lambda vs IQOS ILUMA looks honestly at the cheaper alternatives.

Sticks to order with it

We stock all 75 TEREA flavors across five editions. For a first device, Amber suits full-flavor cigarette smokers, Yellow suits light smokers, and Turquoise suits menthol smokers.

Edition changes the price more than the taste. Most customers buy the Kazakhstan range, on cost and for its five Pearl capsule flavors. Armenia is cheaper with a shorter lineup, and the official UAE edition comes in Arabic and English packaging at RRP. The reason behind the gap is in why imported TEREA costs less, and everything we stock is in the full TEREA sticks range.

Care in the UAE

Heat shortens lithium battery life faster than use does, and a parked car in an Abu Dhabi summer is the worst place for either part of this device. Keep both out of direct sun.

Use the supplied cable and adapter, avoid running the holder while the charger is plugged in, and there’s nothing else to maintain.

Frequently asked questions

Does Pebble Beige perform differently from the other colours?

No. Every ILUMA Standard shares the same heating, battery, consecutive uses and charge capacity. The finish is the only thing that changes.

Pebble Beige or Pebble Grey?

Warm versus cool. Beige suits brown leather, wood and gold tones; grey suits black, steel and silver. Grey is also slightly more forgiving with marks over time.

Does a light finish discolour?

Pale finishes show marks more readily than dark ones over long-term pocket use, though the matte surface helps. Keeping it in a bag rather than loose with keys makes the difference negligible.

Are TEREA sticks included?

No. The kit has the holder, pocket charger, cable, adapter and documentation. Sticks are ordered separately.

How many sticks back to back?

Two from the holder, then a few minutes in the charger. The charger holds around 20 sticks in total.

Does it start heating on its own?

Yes. Insert the stick to the filter line and heating begins automatically. ILUMA One is the model that needs a button press instead.

Does it ever need cleaning?

No. There’s no blade, so nothing collects inside and there’s no cleaning routine.

Can it use HEETS?

No. HEETS have no metal heating element, so induction has nothing to heat. TEREA sticks only.
