IQOS ILUMA Pebble Grey

Pebble Grey is the finish that ages best. Fingerprints, dust and the small scuffs that come from sharing a pocket with keys all show less on this cool grey than on any other colour in the ILUMA Standard range. If you plan to use the same device daily for a couple of years, that matters more than which colour looked best on the shelf.

It’s also the most neutral option in the lineup, which makes it the safe answer when you’re buying for someone else. Performance is identical across every ILUMA Standard colour, so what follows covers the finish, the kit and how the device works.

What’s in the kit

ILUMA Standard is a two-piece system, so the box carries more than an all-in-one device would.

Inside: the ILUMA holder in Pebble Grey, the matching pocket charger, a USB-C charging cable, a power adapter, and the documentation and warranty card.

TEREA sticks are sold separately and the device does nothing without them, so most orders include a pack or two.

No cleaning kit is included, and that’s by design rather than an oversight. ILUMA has no blade and never needs cleaning inside.

Why grey is the long-term choice

Colour decisions get made in a minute and lived with for years, so it’s worth thinking about how a finish looks after a thousand sessions rather than on day one.

Pale and metallic surfaces show wear soonest. Pebble Beige is the warm counterpart to this grey and picks up marks more visibly. Moss Green is the muted option with actual colour to it. Azure Blue is the middle ground and our best seller. Sunset Red is the bold one, and the Neon Limited Edition is louder still, produced as a limited run rather than a permanent line.

Pebble Grey sits at the opposite end from Neon. It disappears into a desk, a car console or a pocket, and it doesn’t date. That’s exactly why some people find it dull, and if you want the device to have some personality, Moss Green or Azure Blue are better picks.

How the two parts work together

The holder runs each session and the pocket charger refills it in between, which is what lets this device last a full day without a wall socket.

The holder takes two sticks back to back. Then it needs a few minutes in the charger, and by the time you want a third it’s ready again. The charger carries enough for around 20 sticks, so a single overnight charge covers a normal day.

Using it

Charge the pocket charger fully before your first session, which takes about 135 minutes over USB-C. Hold the charger button for four seconds to turn the device on.

Take the holder out, insert a TEREA stick to the line on the filter, and wait for the vibration and pulsing lights. Heating begins on its own, with no button to hold. Once the lights hold steady, draw normally for up to 14 puffs or roughly six minutes, and a vibration warns you at the last 30 seconds. Remove the used stick and slide the holder back into the charger.

Autostop ends a session if the stick is moved or pulled out part-way, so a distraction doesn’t cost you half of one. A short press on the charger button shows the battery level, and a yellow blink means it’s time to charge.

Nothing to clean

Older IQOS devices heated the stick with a ceramic blade. Tobacco residue built up on it, and cleaning was a regular chore.

ILUMA has no blade. Smartcore induction heats a metal element sealed inside each TEREA stick using a magnetic field, so nothing inside the holder ever touches tobacco. Sticks come out whole and nothing accumulates. How TEREA sticks work explains the system.

ILUMA One is the all-in-one entry model, lightest and cheapest, with no pocket charger and no auto-start. ILUMA Standard is the two-piece system in plastic. ILUMA Prime matches Standard on every performance figure and adds aluminium with a replaceable leather-effect wrap. Sticks to order with it

We stock all 75 TEREA flavors across five editions. For a first device, Amber suits full-flavor cigarette smokers, Yellow suits light smokers, and Turquoise suits menthol smokers.

Edition affects price more than taste. Most customers buy the Kazakhstan range, on cost and for its five Pearl capsule flavors. Armenia is cheaper with a shorter lineup, and the official UAE edition comes in Arabic and English packaging at RRP. Care in the UAE

Heat shortens lithium battery life faster than use does, and a parked car in an Abu Dhabi summer is the worst place to leave either part of this device. Keep both out of direct sun.

Use the supplied cable and adapter, and avoid running the holder while the charger is plugged in. Nothing else needs maintaining.

Frequently asked questions

Does Pebble Grey perform differently from the other colours?

No. Every ILUMA Standard shares the same heating, battery, consecutive uses and charge capacity. Only the finish changes.

Does it really show marks less than the others?

Yes. Fingerprints and scuffs are least visible on this cool grey, which is why it holds up best over a year or two of daily pocket use.

Pebble Grey or Pebble Beige?

Same idea in two temperatures. Grey is cool and slightly more forgiving on marks; beige is warmer and reads a little softer.

Are TEREA sticks included?

No. The kit has the holder, pocket charger, cable, adapter and documentation. Sticks are ordered separately.

How many sticks back to back?

Two from the holder, then a few minutes in the charger. The charger holds around 20 sticks in total.

Does it start heating by itself?
