Bold Regular is the sixth step of Japan’s seven-part Regular line, sitting one place below Rich Regular and above everything else. It’s a full-bodied tobacco stick with a toasted, malty character and no menthol, no fruit, nothing added. For most people switching from full-flavor cigarettes, this is the flavor that finally feels like enough.

The confusion worth clearing up straight away: Bold Regular and Rich Regular are not the same stick with different labels. Rich is deeper and more roasted, and it lingers. Bold is fuller but finishes cleaner. Which one suits you depends less on how strong you want it and more on what you want left behind after the last puff.

About the flavor

Toasted tobacco leads, and it leads clearly. Underneath sits a malty warmth with faint nutty and woody edges, the kind of profile that reads as roasted grain rather than sweetness. There’s no sugar in this stick’s personality at all. What sweetness you notice comes from the tobacco itself as it heats, not from anything layered on top.

The aroma is warm and bready, closer to freshly toasted bread than to the perfumed notes of the menthol range. It fills a room less than a berry or menthol stick would, which some users specifically want.

Across a session, the opening draws are the boldest, arriving with immediate body and a slightly dry edge. The middle stretch is where the malt shows most clearly and where the stick is at its most balanced. How to use

Slide the stick in printed-end up, without twisting. Current ILUMA devices begin heating on their own; on older models hold the button until the device vibrates. A second vibration means it’s ready. Each stick gives up to 14 puffs across roughly 6 minutes and carries 0.5mg of nicotine, and it comes out whole afterwards for general waste.

One habit that suits this flavor: full-bodied tobacco sticks reward a slower, steadier draw than menthols do. Rushing Bold Regular makes it read as dry; taking your time lets the malt come through.

Does Bold Regular contain menthol?

No. Every flavor named Regular in the Japanese range is pure tobacco with no cooling.

Is it too strong for someone new to TEREA?

Probably, unless you’re coming straight from full-flavor cigarettes, in which case it’s a natural landing spot. Anyone stepping down from lights should start at Balanced Regular or Regular and work up.

Can I get Bold Regular in a cheaper edition?

Not under that name; the graded Regular line is Japan-only. Sienna in the Kazakhstan or Armenia ranges is the nearest profile at a lower price, though it lacks the toasted-malt character that defines this stick.
