Mint is the gentlest cooling stick in the Japanese TEREA range, and it’s the one flavor here that leads with mint rather than menthol. That distinction sounds small until you taste it. Menthol is a sensation, a cold that works on your throat; mint is a flavor you actually taste, closer to fresh leaves than to ice. Mint gives you the second one, with only enough cooling to keep it clean.

It’s the natural first stop for anyone curious about menthol sticks but wary of the strong ones, and it stays in rotation for people who want something refreshing without a jolt.

About the flavor

The hierarchy puts mint first, a light tobacco base second, and cooling third, which is the reverse of almost every other stick in this category. Sweetness is minimal. What you get instead is a green, herbal freshness that reads more like a mint leaf than a mint sweet.

The aroma is soft and clean, and this is one of the least intrusive sticks in the whole Japanese lineup on that front. Where Black Purple Menthol announces itself to a room, Mint stays quiet. If you use TEREA around other people, in a car, or anywhere the smell matters, that’s a real advantage, and it’s covered in more depth in our guide to whether TEREA sticks smell.

Across a session the profile stays remarkably even. The first draws bring the mint forward with a gentle cool edge; the middle settles into a light tobacco balance; and the last third fades softly rather than turning bitter or drying out, which is the failure mode of weaker menthols. The finish is short and clean, leaving your palate reset rather than coated. Fourteen puffs, no drama, and that consistency is the point.

Mint or Menthol? The question we get most

These two look interchangeable on a shelf and aren’t. Menthol is the classic cooling stick: the cold arrives first and the tobacco sits clearly underneath it. Mint reverses that, giving you the herbal flavor with cooling as a finishing touch rather than the headline.

Practically: choose Mint if you want refreshment and a light session. Choose Menthol if you want that familiar menthol-cigarette sensation. And if either of them feels too gentle after a few packs, Black Menthol is the far end of the same road. The full ten-strong menthol ladder is ranked on our TEREA Japan flavors page.

Coming from another edition, the closest relative is Silver, the light menthol available in the UAE, Kazakhstan and Armenia ranges. Silver leans herbal and tea-like where Mint leans green and fresh, and Silver costs less in the imported editions, which is worth knowing before you commit to a Japanese carton. We’ve explained why those editions price differently in why imported TEREA costs less.

What’s in the box

20 sticks per pack, 200 per carton in 10 packs, with the carton cheaper per stick. Packs are original Japan-market stock, factory-sealed, printed in Japanese with Japanese health warnings and the flavor name in Latin script.

How to use

Slide the stick printed-end up into your ILUMA holder without twisting. Current devices start heating on their own; older ILUMA models need the button held until the first vibration, and the second vibration tells you to draw. One stick runs up to 14 puffs or about 6 minutes and carries 0.5mg of nicotine. Nothing burns, so the used stick comes out whole and goes into general waste. If you want the full picture of what’s actually happening inside the stick, how TEREA sticks work explains the Smartcore system.

A small thing worth knowing with light flavors: Mint is easily overwhelmed. If you’ve just finished a Rich Regular or a Black Menthol, give your palate a few minutes before starting one, or the mint will barely register.

Compatibility

Works in every induction device: IQOS ILUMA One, Standard and Prime, the ILUMA i series, and Lambda i8, i9 and i10. Blade devices such as the IQOS 3 Duo cannot heat TEREA at all, and every compatible and incompatible model is listed in our device compatibility guide.

Delivery

Frequently asked questions

Is Mint the mildest flavor in the Japanese range?

It’s the mildest of the cooling flavors. Smooth Regular is milder overall, but it has no cooling at all, so between the two it depends on whether you want freshness or just a light tobacco.

Is Mint the same as Menthol?

No, and the difference is real. Mint leads with a green, herbal flavor and cools gently. Menthol leads with the cold sensation and keeps the tobacco more visible underneath.

Will it still taste of anything if I usually smoke strong flavors?

Not immediately after one. Mint is subtle by design, so it works best as a first stick of the day, a palate reset, or a lighter alternative when you don’t want intensity.

Does it smell less than other menthol sticks?

Yes, noticeably. It’s one of the least intrusive flavors in the range, which makes it a common choice for use around other people.
