Provence Pearl is the Pearl stick for people who actually like tobacco. Philip Morris builds it on a full-bodied, toasted tobacco blend with malty aroma notes, and the capsule in the filter releases grape with cooling menthol when you click it. That base is the important part: most capsule sticks sit on a light or sweet foundation, and this one doesn’t.

It’s part of the five-strong Pearl range that makes the Kazakhstan edition worth importing, and it’s the one to choose if the fruit sticks in the range have felt too soft.

About the flavor, before and after the click

Unclicked, this is a proper tobacco stick. Full-bodied and toasted, with malty aroma notes and a dry, roasted finish. Nothing fruity appears until you decide it should. If you never clicked the capsule at all, you’d have a satisfying dark tobacco session and no idea a grape flavor was sitting in the filter.

Clicked, the character changes completely. The grape arrives sweet and slightly tart rather than syrupy, and the menthol runs underneath it as a cooling layer rather than a cold blast. The malty tobacco base stays visible through both, which is what stops the combination from tasting like a fruit sweet. The finish is cool and grape-tinted with the roasted note still there at the back.

The aroma follows the same split. Before clicking it smells like toasted tobacco; after, the grape carries noticeably into the room. Worth knowing if you use TEREA around other people, which our guide to whether TEREA sticks smell covers across the range.

Across a session, the timing of the click is the whole experience. Click at the start and you get grape and cooling for all fourteen puffs. Click halfway and the first half is a dry malty tobacco stick and the second half is something else entirely. Most people who buy this flavor regularly settle into one habit and stay there.

The click is optional, and that changes what you’re buying

This is the detail worth understanding before you order. A Pearl capsule is a choice, not a feature that fires automatically. Leave it alone and Provence Pearl behaves like a full-bodied tobacco stick, comparable in body to Teak or a strong Amber.

That makes it the most flexible stick in the Kazakhstan range. If you smoke tobacco flavors during the day and want something different in the evening, one pack covers both. It also makes it the sensible first Pearl for anyone who has been suspicious of capsule sticks, since you’re not committed to the fruit at any point.

One thing the name does cause: a few sellers describe Provence Pearl as a light, floral, herbal blend, apparently reading the name as a reference to the French region. That isn’t what’s in the pack. The official description is full-bodied toasted tobacco with a grape and menthol capsule, and that’s what you get.

Where it sits among the five Kazakhstan Pearls

Kazakhstan carries the widest Pearl range of any TEREA edition, and the five are genuinely different from one another.

Provence Pearl has the fullest tobacco base of the group and the fruitiest release. Sun Pearl is the mildest and the usual starting point, with a tropical citrus burst over a softer base. Twilight Pearl is the dark berry option, deeper and sweeter. Tidal Pearl is the coldest, built on menthol with extra cooling in the capsule. Starling Pearl is the unusual one, strawberry and basil with a menthol release.

Choose Provence if you want the tobacco to survive the click. Choose Sun or Twilight if you’d rather the fruit take over. Every Pearl we stock across all editions sits on the Pearl flavors page, and the full sixteen-flavor Kazakhstan lineup is on our TEREA Kazakhstan flavors page.

Nothing like this exists in the UAE range, which carries no capsule flavors at all. Japan and Indonesia each carry two Pearls, and the full comparison of the five editions sets out what each range offers.

In the pack

20 sticks per pack, 200 per carton across 10 packs, with cartons cheaper per stick. Kazakhstan stock arrives factory-sealed, printed in Kazakh and Russian with Kazakhstan health warnings and the flavor name in Latin script. Imported packaging is normal for this edition; a broken seal or a misspelled name is not, and our guide to spotting fake TEREA covers the checks. Pearl sticks are worth inspecting for one extra reason: the capsule should be intact and unbroken in the filter when you take the stick out of the pack.

Clicking it properly

Insert the stick printed-end up into the holder without twisting, and let the device heat as usual. Current ILUMA models start automatically, older ones want the button held until the first vibration, and a second vibration means ready. You get up to 14 puffs across roughly 6 minutes at 0.5mg of nicotine.

To activate the capsule, squeeze the filter gently between finger and thumb until you feel it give. It’s a soft click, not a crunch, and one squeeze is enough. Squeezing hard or repeatedly can split the filter, which lets the flavor escape too quickly and leaves the last few puffs flat.

Two practical notes. Don’t click before inserting the stick, because the flavor starts dissipating from the moment the capsule breaks. And if you’re unsure whether you clicked it, you’ll know within one puff; there’s no subtlety to the change. The heating side of all this is explained in how TEREA sticks work.

Devices

Heats in any induction device: IQOS ILUMA One, Standard and Prime, the full ILUMA i series, and Lambda i8, i9 and i10. No blade device, the IQOS 3 Duo included, can heat TEREA at all; every model is listed in our device compatibility guide.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to click the capsule?

No. Left unclicked it’s a full-bodied toasted tobacco stick with malty notes and no fruit at all. The capsule is there if you want it.

When should I click it?

Whenever you want the change. At the start for grape and cooling throughout, halfway for two distinct halves in one stick. There’s no wrong moment, and most regular users end up with a fixed habit.

Is the grape sweet or artificial?

It reads as fresh and slightly tart rather than candy-like, and the malty tobacco base keeps it grounded. This isn’t a sweet-flavored stick with tobacco added.

Is Provence Pearl strong?

The base is the fullest of the five Kazakhstan Pearls, comparable to a strong Amber or Teak in body. The menthol in the capsule is moderate rather than icy; Tidal Pearl is the cold one.

Which Pearl should I try first?

Sun Pearl if you want the gentlest introduction. Provence Pearl if you already like tobacco flavors and want a capsule that doesn’t bury them.

Can I buy this in the UAE edition?

No. The UAE range carries no Pearl flavors, which is the main reason customers here order the Kazakhstan edition.
