Tidal Pearl is the coldest of the five Pearl capsule sticks in the Kazakhstan range, and it’s also the one that changes most when you click it. Philip Morris sums it up as a woody-to-minty tobacco experience with a capsule, which is unusually literal: before the click it’s a quiet, woody tobacco stick, and after it, a full menthol one. In some markets the same stick is sold as Briza Pearl, so if you’ve seen that name abroad, this is it.

The name is doing work too. Tidal refers to oceanic freshness, the sensation of a cold wave arriving, and that’s a fair description of what the capsule does.

About the flavor, before and after the click

Unclicked, the hierarchy is toasted tobacco first, woody notes second, and a light tea-like character third. It’s mellow and balanced, with no cooling at all, and it’s genuinely drinkable as a plain tobacco stick. If the quiet, herbal-tea end of the tobacco range is your territory, the base here is close cousin to Silver.

Clicked, the order flips completely. Menthol takes the front, crisp and intense, with a mint edge that lands cold rather than sweet. The woody base doesn’t disappear; it sits underneath and keeps the stick from tasting like pure cold air, which is the failure mode of a lot of strong menthols. The cooling is the highest of any Pearl in this range and it holds to the last puff rather than fading.

The aroma follows the same pattern. Before the click it’s mild and easy to use around other people; after, it carries noticeably further, in the way all strong menthols do.

The two halves are different enough that people describe Tidal Pearl as two sticks in one, and that’s not marketing. The gap between its base and its capsule is wider than any other Pearl in the range.

When to click, and why it matters more on this one

The capsule is single-use. Once it’s crushed the flavor is released for the rest of that stick, and there’s no going back. On most Pearls that decision is minor because the base and the capsule flavor are variations on one idea. On Tidal Pearl the two states are genuinely different products, so the timing is a real choice.

Click before the first puff and you get a full menthol stick from start to finish, the coldest thing in the Kazakhstan range. Click halfway and you get a mellow woody-tea session followed by a hard cold finish, which is what most regular buyers of this flavor do. Don’t click at all and you have a light tobacco stick that nobody would guess had a menthol capsule in it.

That third option is worth remembering when you’re somewhere the aroma matters.

Tidal against the other four Pearls

Kazakhstan carries the widest Pearl range of any TEREA edition, and each one has a job.

Using the capsule

Insert the stick printed-end up without twisting, and let the device heat as normal. Current ILUMA models start automatically; older ones need the button held until the first vibration, with a second vibration signalling ready. Fourteen puffs, roughly 6 minutes, 0.5mg nicotine, and the stick comes out whole afterwards because nothing burns, as explained in how TEREA sticks work.

To crush the capsule, pinch the filter firmly between finger and thumb near the printed band until you feel a small give. One firm squeeze is enough; repeated pinching can split the filter without releasing the capsule cleanly.

One practical note on strong menthol capsules: they leave more aroma in a holder than plain tobacco does. If a light stick like Silver or Yellow is next in your rotation, give the device a few minutes first or the menthol will carry over.
