Sun Pearl is the capsule stick most people try first, and the Indonesian release is the cheapest way to get it. There’s a crushable bead sitting in the filter: smoke it untouched and you have a soft tobacco stick with a light citrus lift, squeeze it and a tropical citrus burst arrives over a wave of cooling. One stick, two experiences, and you decide when the second one starts.

Among the twenty-one flavors in the Indonesian range, this is the one that requires the least explanation and delivers the most obvious novelty.

How the capsule works

The bead sits inside the filter, and there’s nothing electronic about it. You pinch the filter between finger and thumb until you feel and hear a small click, which is the capsule wall breaking and releasing the flavor liquid into the filter material. From that point on, every draw carries it.

Timing is the whole game. Crush before your first puff and you get the full tropical-menthol profile for all fourteen puffs, which is what most people do. Crush at the halfway mark and the stick genuinely changes character mid-session, from mild tobacco to bright and cold, and that contrast is sharper than any single-flavor stick can deliver. Leave it alone entirely and you have a light, easy tobacco stick with a hint of citrus, which is a perfectly good option when you want something quiet.

One practical note: crush it once, firmly. Half-pinching gives you a weak partial release and there’s no way to undo it or crush it again.

About the flavor

Before the click, the hierarchy is soft tobacco first with citrus behind it, and the whole thing sits light. There’s no menthol at all in this stage, which surprises people who expect Pearl sticks to be cold from the start.

After the click, the order reverses completely. Tropical citrus takes the front, menthol cooling sits right behind it, and the tobacco base drops to the background as support. Think sun-warmed citrus rather than sharp lemon; it’s sweeter and rounder than the lemon profile of a flavor like Yellow Menthol, and the cooling is medium rather than fierce.

The aroma follows the same split. Uncrushed, it’s mild and unobtrusive. Crushed, the fruit becomes noticeable in a room, though it stays lighter than the clove Editions in the same range, which are the loudest sticks in the entire TEREA world. Our guide to whether TEREA sticks smell breaks down how the families compare.

Across a session with a mid-point crush, the arc is: quiet tobacco through the opening draws, a bright cold jolt at the click, and then a settled tropical-menthol balance for the rest, finishing clean with a light fruity coolness rather than a heavy aftertaste.

Sun Pearl across the editions, and where it’s cheapest

Sun Pearl exists in three of the five ranges we stock, and the difference is mostly price rather than profile.

The Indonesian version here sits in our budget tier. Sun Pearl Kazakhstan is priced similarly and comes from the edition with the widest capsule range of all. Sun Pearl Japan is the premium release. If Sun Pearl specifically is what you want and price matters, the Indonesian and Kazakhstan versions are the sensible buys, and why imported TEREA costs less explains the tax reason behind that gap.

Within the Indonesian range itself, the other two capsule sticks are Oasis Pearl, built on a creamier, nuttier base with a floral edge to its release, and Riviera Pearl, the rarest capsule stick we carry and hard to find elsewhere in the UAE.

If capsules turn out to be your thing, the Kazakhstan range carries five of them including Tidal, Starling, Twilight and Provence Pearl. Every capsule flavor we stock across all editions is collected on the Pearl flavors page, and the full Indonesian lineup with its clove Editions and Dimensions pair sits on the TEREA Indonesia flavors page.

In the pack

20 sticks per pack, 200 per carton across 10 packs, with cartons priced lower per stick. This is original Indonesian-market stock, factory-sealed, printed in Indonesian with Indonesian health warnings and the flavor name in Latin script. Capsule sticks look identical to standard ones from the outside; the bead is inside the filter and isn’t visible.

Handling and storage

Insert printed-end up into the holder without twisting. Current ILUMA models begin heating automatically, older ones need the button held until the first vibration, and a second vibration means you’re ready to draw. Up to 14 puffs across roughly 6 minutes, 0.5mg nicotine, and the spent stick comes out whole for general waste. The heating mechanism is covered in how TEREA sticks work.

Capsule sticks need a little more care in storage than plain ones. Keep packs out of direct sun and out of a parked car, because sustained heat can weaken the capsule wall, and a bead that has already leaked gives you a flat, pre-mixed flavor instead of a clean burst. Room temperature and a sealed pack keep them intact for months.

Devices

Any induction device heats it: IQOS ILUMA One, Standard and Prime, the whole ILUMA i series, and Lambda i8, i9 and i10. Blade devices such as the IQOS 3 Duo can’t heat TEREA at all, and every model is listed in our device compatibility guide.

Frequently asked questions

When should I crush the capsule?

Before the first puff for the full tropical-menthol flavor throughout, or halfway for two distinct halves in one stick. There’s no wrong answer, and most people settle on a preference after a pack.

What happens if I don’t crush it?

You get a mild tobacco stick with a light citrus note and no cooling at all. That’s a legitimate way to smoke it, not a wasted stick.

Can I crush it twice?

No. The bead breaks once and releases everything it has. A weak first pinch can’t be corrected, so press firmly until you hear the click.

Is the Indonesian Sun Pearl the same as the Japanese one?

The profile is the same idea, tuned slightly differently by market. The main practical difference is price: the Indonesian release sits in our budget tier while the Japanese one is premium.

Which Pearl should I try after this one?

Oasis Pearl if you want a creamier base, or the Kazakhstan capsules if you want more variety. Tidal Pearl is the coldest of them and Provence Pearl the fruitiest.
