IQOS ILUMA Prime Bronze Taupe
IQOS ILUMA Prime Gold Khaki
IQOS ILUMA Prime Jade Green
ILUMA is the generation of IQOS devices built around induction heating, and it’s the range TEREA sticks were designed for. Three models, one heating system, and the difference between them is shape and finish rather than performance.
We stock all three with every colour Philip Morris makes, all original product, delivered within 1 hour in Abu Dhabi and same-day across the rest of the UAE.
The three models
ILUMA One is the all-in-one. A single unit with no separate holder or charger, the lightest device in the range at 68.5 grams, and the cheapest way into ILUMA. It gives up to 20 sticks per charge and refills over USB-C in about 90 minutes. What it doesn’t have is auto-start or a pocket charger, so you press a button to begin heating and you need a wall socket when the battery runs down. Five colours.
ILUMA Standard is the two-piece system. A slim holder runs each session and a pocket charger refills it between sticks, which means a full day without hunting for a plug. Two sticks back to back, around 20 sticks per full charge, auto-start included. Six colours, and the sensible middle choice for most buyers.
ILUMA Prime is Standard’s functionality in aluminium, with a leather-effect wrap on the charger that you can replace to change the colour later, and a sliding door instead of a lid. Identical heating, identical two consecutive uses, identical charger capacity. Five finishes including a limited edition.
The honest summary: Prime is not faster or stronger than Standard, and Standard is not a better heater than One. They heat the same tobacco the same way. You’re choosing between a single object, a two-piece system, and a two-piece system in nicer materials.
Our ILUMA One vs Standard vs Prime guide works through that choice in more detail.

What makes ILUMA different from older IQOS
Every IQOS device before this generation used a ceramic blade that pushed into the tobacco stick and heated it from the outside. That blade collected residue, needed regular cleaning with sticks and cotton buds, and could snap if you twisted a stick while removing it.
ILUMA has no blade at all. The Smartcore Induction System creates a magnetic field that heats a metal element sealed inside each TEREA stick, so the heat comes from within the tobacco and nothing inside the device ever touches it. Three things follow from that.
There is no cleaning, ever. No residue collects because no tobacco enters the device.
Nothing can break in the heating chamber, because there’s no blade to snap.
The flavour stays even from first puff to last, since heat spreads outward from the centre rather than from one hot surface pressed against one side.
How TEREA sticks work explains the mechanism in full.
What ILUMA can and cannot use
ILUMA devices work with TEREA sticks and nothing else. HEETS have no metal element inside, so an induction coil has nothing to heat, and putting one in an ILUMA achieves nothing at all.
The reverse is equally true. TEREA will not work in an IQOS 3 Duo, Originals Duo, Originals One or lil Solid, and forcing one into a blade device risks damaging both. We still stock the IQOS Originals range and cleaning accessories for HEETS users.
HEETS in ILUMA and TEREA in IQOS 3 Duo covers both directions, and the device compatibility guide lists every model that works and every one that doesn’t.
ILUMA or ILUMA i
ILUMA i is the newer generation, and it comes in the same three shapes: ILUMA i One, ILUMA i Standard and ILUMA i Prime.
What it adds is a touchscreen showing device status, Pause Mode for interrupting and resuming a session, FlexPuff which reads your puff pattern and may add up to four extra puffs, and three consecutive uses instead of two on the two-piece models.
What it doesn’t change is the heating. Both generations use the same Smartcore induction system with the same TEREA sticks, so the tobacco experience is unchanged. Whether the extra features justify the price is a personal call, and our ILUMA vs ILUMA i comparison sets out both sides. The ILUMA i Prime review covers the flagship in detail.
One useful compatibility note: Prime and i Prime parts work together, so an i Prime holder charges in a Prime pocket charger and the other way round.
If the price of official hardware is the sticking point, the Lambda range heats TEREA using the same induction principle at a lower entry cost, assessed honestly in Lambda vs IQOS ILUMA and the Lambda i8 review.
Getting started with your first device
Charge it fully before the first use, then insert a TEREA stick to the line on the filter without twisting. On Standard and Prime heating begins by itself; on ILUMA One you hold the button until it vibrates. A second vibration means ready, and a session runs up to 14 puffs or roughly six minutes.
You’ll need sticks alongside the device, since ILUMA does nothing without them. Three flavors cover most first-time buyers: Amber if you smoke full-flavor cigarettes, Yellow if you smoke lights, Turquoise if you smoke menthol.
Which edition you buy affects the price considerably. Most of our customers choose the Kazakhstan range, on cost and for its five Pearl capsule flavors, while Armenia is cheaper again with a shorter lineup and the official UAE edition comes in Arabic and English packaging. The reason for the gap is in why imported TEREA costs less, and every flavor is browsable on the TEREA flavors page.
Full setup instructions are in our first-time ILUMA guide.
Looking after an ILUMA device in the UAE
Heat is the one thing that meaningfully shortens the life of these devices. The operating range is 0 to 40°C, and a parked car in an Abu Dhabi summer passes that comfortably, so keep the device out of direct sun and off dashboards.
Beyond that, use the supplied cable and adapter, avoid using the device while it’s charging, and that’s the whole maintenance routine. There is nothing to clean and no consumable parts inside.
Delivery
Every ILUMA model and colour is stocked in Abu Dhabi with delivery inside 1 hour across the city, covering Khalifa City, Al Reem Island, Yas Island, Mussafah and Mohammed Bin Zayed City. Same-day delivery reaches Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Cash on delivery available, free delivery above 200 AED.
Frequently asked questions
Which ILUMA device should I buy?
One if you want a single object and the lowest price. Standard if you want to get through a day without a wall socket, and it’s the choice that suits most people. Prime if the materials and the replaceable wrap matter to you.
Is ILUMA Prime better than ILUMA Standard?
Not in performance. Both heat identically, both handle two sticks back to back, both hold around 20 sticks of charge. Prime is aluminium with a wrap and a sliding door; Standard is plastic and costs less.
Do ILUMA devices need cleaning?
No. There’s no blade, so no tobacco residue collects inside. This is the biggest practical change from older IQOS models.
Can ILUMA use HEETS?
No. HEETS contain no metal heating element, so induction has nothing to heat. ILUMA works with TEREA sticks only.
Can I use TEREA in my old IQOS 3 Duo?
No. Blade devices can’t heat TEREA, and forcing a stick in risks damaging the blade. You need an ILUMA, ILUMA i or compatible Lambda device.
What’s the difference between ILUMA and ILUMA i?
ILUMA i adds a touchscreen, Pause Mode, FlexPuff and three consecutive uses on the two-piece models. The heating system and the sticks are identical across both generations.
How many sticks does a full charge give?
Around 20 on every model, which is a full pack. The difference is how you get there: One uses them one at a time, while Standard and Prime handle two back to back from the holder.
Are all the colours the same device?
Yes. Within each model the specifications are identical and the finish is the only difference.
